Few stories have had the worldwide, humanity-spanning influence of The Little Prince, and it’s no surprise that Mark Osborne‘s stunning new adaptation is already garnering a high level of excitement from fans young and old. You can watch the full length trailer above and fall in love, again, with the story’s magic.
The Little Prince‘s all-star cast includes Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, Jeff Bridges, Vincent Cassel, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, and Albert Brooks alongside relative newcomer Mackenzie Fox (and I say newcomer because of her age not the 15 films on her IMDb page). The film features varying animation styles and was directed by Kung Fu Panda‘s Mark Osborne. While it has already seen some success in France, where it was released in July, this coming March will be the first time it hits American theaters.
You probably remember the book the film was inspired by from your own childhood. The story of a crash-landed pilot meeting and befriending a star-traveling royal has been at the heart of French language teaching for a generation, and I personally have yet to meet someone who read it and doesn’t light up at the memory. This modern adaptation that works in the pressures to grow up quickly and be ambitious looks like it is an absolutely beautiful visualization of the story so many of us have loved.
The Little Prince will be in theaters and RealD 3D on March 18, 2016. Something tells me we won’t be seeing a huge number of additional trailers, but that’s okay. This one is beautiful enough and enticing enough to keep me excited for it until then.
