Watch the First 3 Minutes of RINGS Right Now, and More Movie News

If you’re tired of feeling the winter chill in the air, then it’s time to head to your local movie theater… where things are about to get much chillier. Yup, there’s a lot of horror heading to the big screen, which is the focus of today’s Movie Morsels. Including among today’s lineup are this weekend’s Rings and A Cure for Wellness, plus a The Secret of NIMH remake!

Rings

Y’know, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a horror movie that should most definitely not be watched on an airplane. But if the first three minutes of this weekend’s continuation of the Ring franchise serve as any indication, then Rings should fit the bill nicely. Oh, it might not be up there with Final Destination, but in terms of sticking pretty young people in peril on planes, the below clip from Rings is no slouch.

For even more Rings fun, here’s another clip from the film, featuring actor Johnny Galecki doing something his Big Bang Theory character would probably criticize to no end…

A Cure for Wellness

While F. Javier Gutiérrez has taken over the Ring franchise, the original Ring director Gore Verbinski has been busy with A Cure for Wellness, which hits theaters on February 17th. Here’s a new clip from the film, which features one of the creepiest sensory deprivation tank scenes since Altered States

And here’s the latest TV spot for this macabre exercise in color desaturation…

Diane

While it’s by no means as high-profile as Rings or A Cure for Wellness, the indie chiller Diane has been generating some positive buzz for its tale of a disabled war vet who finds the body of a young woman in his backyard. Here’s the film’s trailer to give you a small taste of its madness…

The Rats Of NIMH

The Secret of NIMH

No, it’s not exactly a horror movie, but 1982’s The Secret of NIMH has gotten under the skin of many an impressionable kid in its time. Now we hear that plans for a new live-action/CG version of the novel on which the film is based, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, is finally moving forward. Visual effects filmmaker James Madigan has been tapped to make his feature film directorial debut on the project, adapted by screenwriter Michael Berg.

The Batman

Ben Affleck as Batman

Now that Ben Affleck is no longer helming The Batman, who would you like to see in the film’s director’s chair? We’ve put together a list of 10 directors we’d like to see take on the challenge.

Blade Runner

Blade Runner

Last but not least today… Even if Blade Runner 2049 doesn’t come close to reaching the lofty heights of the original classic, we’ll always have this Blade Runner fan film trailer. At least until we die, when our memories will be lost like tears in the rain.
