Watch STAR TREK: VOYAGER’s Resident Vulcan Tim Russ (Mis)explain STAR WARS DAY

While it may horrify some to mention that OTHER Star franchise phenomenon on May the Fourth, the simple truth is that Star Wars fans are everywhere, even among the many folks who’ve worked on Star Trek. Take Star Trek: Voyager‘s Tim Russ, for example. Though he may be best known for playing the role of the Vulcan Lieutenant Commander Tuvok on the fourth live-action Star Trek TV show, Russ is also an Emmy Award-winning television public service ad producer and director, who directs and co-stars in the fan-financed Star Trek: Renegades. And he’s an accomplished singer and musician, who’s demonstrated a flair for comedy with his roles on Samantha Who? and Nickelodeon’s iCarly. Russ certainly brings the funny in his illuminating explanation of Star Wars Day, the video of which you can watch below — courtesy of UCB Comedy and Pocketwatch.

Sure it may not be as hilarious as the work of that great comedian Jar Jar Binks, but what is? At least the above video (directed by Will Reese, written by Aaron Burdette, and edited by Michelle Ciotta) gives long overdue props to the Space Druids. For they have indeed fought a doozy of a war these many years. Thank heavens we’ve had them to prevent the destruction of our home planet by Death Ball and Garbage Octopus.

May the Fourth be with you, everyone. Live long and prosper. And happy birthday, The Star Wars!
