Watch STAR TREK Films Accompanied By a Live Orchestra

Go boldly where few films have gone before and experience both of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films accompanied by a live orchestra: Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness will be re-released in a limited number of cities around the world and shown in music halls and concert venues. Local symphonies will perform Michael Giacchino’s score as the movie plays. It seems like having the music up close and personal would make for a more dramatic viewing experience, since the music of a movie influences the way you engage with it.

The dates and locations are as follows (each venue is linked to the ticket page):

May 24: Star Trek Into Darkness, KKL Luzerne (Lucerne)
May 25: Star Trek, KKL Luzerne (Lucerne)
May 29-31: Star Trek, Royal Albert Hall (London)
May 30-31: Star Trek Into Darkness, Royal Albert Hall (London)
July 18: Star Trek, Jones Hall (Houston)
July 19: Star Trek Into Darkness, Jones Hall (Houston)
July 26: Star Trek, Embarcadero Marina Park South (San Diego)
July 31: Star Trek Into Darkness, The Mann Center (Philadelphia)
March 21, 2015: Star Trek, Sony Centre (Toronto)

Note that the July 26th date coincides with San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s just a four minute walk away from the convention center. Though nothing is certain, I wouldn’t be surprised if any actors who happen to already be in town for the convention show up at the movie/performance.

a few years back, I saw a screening of WIZARD OF OZ with a full orchestra playing the music.
    It was spectacular!
