When the video of breathing art installation Shia LeBeouf screaming motivation in front of a green screen was first released, humanity had great hope for the future of the internet. Thus far our dreams have been answered, as the world wide web continues to produce outstanding compilations of the performer giving encouragement to unlikely recipients.
This (NSFW) video, created by YouTube user Adeel of Steel, places LeBeouf in Man of Steel, where he encounters a reluctant Superman struggling with whether or not to kill General Zod before Zod can flash fry an entire family. This works particularly well because Superman pleads with Zod to stop, saying, âDonât do this!.â It makes LeBeoufâs incessant screaming of âdo it!â that much more poignant and funny.
The real genius here though comes after Superman kills Zod, when LeBeouf begins to almost mock a clearly distraught and torn Superman.
As our own Matt Delhauer wrote back in June, the original video, while seeming like a typical Shia LeBeouf cry for help performance piece, was actually made with a group of students from the Central Saint Martins BA Fine Arts program in London. Once the internet got a hold of it though, it became all of ours.
Shia has already encouraged Sonic the Hedgehog and Goku from Dragon Ball Z, but those are just a couple of the numerous ones created.
Which one is your favorite so far? Have any good ideas for another cut-up that would work well? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. Do it. Just do it. Do it. DO IT! DO IT!
