Watch Sarah Paulson Cover Fiona Apple’s ‘Criminal’ on AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW

Prepare for trouble and make it double. Last night on American Horror Story: Freak Show, everybody’s second favorite Terror Twins, Dot and Bette Tattler, performed a mosh pit-inducing rendition of Fiona Apple‘s classic Tidal track “Criminal”. On a literal level this track seems like a self-indictment from the conjoined sisters after we — spoiler alert — saw them murder their mother in last week’s episode.

But what is more worrisome, perhaps, is what this track indicates about the potentially violent relationship between the sisters in the future. Apple’s confession track is by no means innocuous and given the violent tendencies of these two, as well as how this scene was shot — they look like they are dueling instead of duetting — we are a bit worried about their relationship as the series unfolds. But not as worried bout waking up in the middle of the night to find Twisty the Clown standing over our beds with bloody knife and lunatic’s grin. Just a bit more nervous about that one.

But try not to freak out too much. For now, just enjoy this sultry Fiona Apple cover and the novelty of Paulson harmonizing with herself in real time.

How do you think this cover stacks up to Elsa’s performance of David Bowie’s “Life On Mars”? Do you think this complements or distracts from Ryan Murphy’s latest season of American Horror Story? How close did you come to peeing your pants last night? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!
