Watch Pierce Brosnan Play GOLDENEYE With Jimmy Fallon on THE TONIGHT SHOW

Hop in the nostalgia machine with us and take a trip back all the way to 1997. Bill Clinton was beginning his second term in office, James Cameron’s Titanic was just hitting theaters, and a little known actress named Chloë Grace Moretz was born. Yes, 1997 was a good year. But, there was one thing that stood out above all the rest, one moment that would change an entire generation forever: the release of Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64.

We all remember Goldeneye, the first console-based first person shooter that shined. A game with some of the best multi-player to ever be split into four on our television screens. A game that, frankly, makes you wonder why licensed games suck so much nowadays. Yes, Goldeneye holds a special place in our hearts, but perhaps it holds no fonder memories than with Jimmy Fallon who, last night, got to do something we all could only dream of: play Goldeneye with the man that lived it, Pierce Brosnan:

Interestingly, during our interview with Brosnan for his upcoming film The November Man (which you’ll be able to read in full later this month), the subject of the game did come up:

“I remember when it came out. I think I did Goldeneye in ’94, ’95. My sons got it. I played it. I remember sitting in the garage playing it with them. I think I shot myself in the foot many times,” said Brosnan, adding, “I just said, ‘F–k it. I don’t want to do this.’”

It’s nice to know that even Bond himself dabbled in his own video game likeness. Let’s see Daniel Craig do that!
