Watch LEGO Batman Confront LEGO Grodd in a Clip from JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. BIZARRO LEAGUE

We’re in the midst of celebrating not only the upcoming introduction of beloved DC Universe baddie Gorilla Grodd on TV’s The Flash, but the long-awaited landmark debut of the simian supervillain in any live-action medium! To prepare you for this momentous occasion, we’ve got a look at Grodd in another, albeit somewhat lighter, incarnation — LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League.

In this new animated film, Batman, for the first time, teams up with earth’s greatest heroes to thwart the plans of Bizarro and his buddies, only to learn things are a little more complicated than they at first appear. In the following clip, the pesky primate (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) takes control of Captain Cold, Deathstroke, and the Penguin, only to run afoul of the Dark Knight and Cyborg.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League — produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC Entertainment and The LEGO Group — is out on Blu-ray and DVD now from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League, Batman has joined the newly formed Justice League in order to keep tabs on Superman, a mistrust that is complicated by Superman’s clumsy – but well-meaning – clone, Bizarro. Bizarro’s creation of the Bizarro League has caused confusion amongst the world’s greatest Super Heroes, but an even greater and mysterious threat may force the Justice League and Bizarro League to band together to defeat evil.”

Honestly, as a Batman lifelong fan, I have to admit that animation has done a waaaay too better job in developing DC’s Superheroes. In live action Marvel has the win!

DC was kind of handicapped by having their primary character tied up in the Nolan franchise which couldn’t include an alien from an extinct planet or an amazon from a mythical island.  I doubt they’re too bent out of shape about it considering how much money those three films made, but they’re just now starting to jump into the connected superhero franchise.  Marvel hasn’t exactly won yet as much as just gotten there first.  Let’s wait and see how the Batman/Superman and Suicide Squad movies turn out.
