WATCH: First Trailer For Arnold Schwarzenegger Zombie Drama MAGGIE

Recently in Horror Happenings we told you that Maggie, the independent zombie thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin, will have a limited theatrical run in the US starting this May. Now, we’re getting a look at the film in the first trailer!

Maggie is the directorial debut of Henry Hobson and stars Schwarzenegger as Wade, the father of a young girl named Maggie (Breslin) who becomes infected with a zombie virus that has plagued the world. Wade has decided to care for his daughter until the inevitable happens.

We’ve been hearing about Maggie for a while now and we’ve finally gotten a look at the story in action. It’s already haunting to watch the slow turn of Maggie from teenage girl to the undead and zombies are great at serving as a metaphor for many things. It would appear from the first look at this trailer that the zombie virus may be standing in for a terminal illness in this case. Watch the trailer below and judge for yourself!

Did you catch the guy that Maggie is kissing shows signs of infection in his neck? I kind of like the idea of the virus turning people slowly and the ones who are infected having to live out their last days as the illness takes hold. If done right, it could be an awesome opportunity for some great body horror. I also think it’s an interesting turn for Schwarzenegger — playing a small town dad in what appears to be a more quiet drama as opposed to the more traditional fare that we’re used to seeing him in, like the upcoming Terminator Genisys.

What are your thoughts on the first trailer for Maggie? Will you be seeing it when it hits theaters in a limited on May 8, 2015? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
