WATCH DOGS Movie Going Forward With ZOMBIELAND Writers

Deadline is reporting that Rhett Resse and Paul Wernick, the minds behind the cult zombie comedy Zombieland are on board at Sony to bring Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs to the big screen.

The duo recently attempted to resurrect Zombieland as a web series with Amazon, and have since moved on to Epsilon, another project with Sony.

Watch Dogs hasn’t even launched yet, but Ubisoft seems enthusiastic enough about its fiction to put their support behind a film. The game’s story follows elite hacker dude Aiden Pearce as he attempts to dismantle criminal conspiracies in the Chicago underworld.

Watch Dogs joins Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed movies as projects in active development at Ubisoft, who set up a film arm recently to build out their own movies. The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman has been attached to Splinter Cell with actor Tom Hardy since last year, while Michael Fassbender has been waiting around for someone to dress him in assassin’s robes for the AC film.
