Watch Captivating Videos of Tiny Fake Food Being Created

Pocky, potato chips, strawberries, and Cup O’ Noodles. While that sounds a lot like my lunch, it’s actually just some of the miniature food videos created by YouTuber Hamster Miniature Studio 2, also known as HMS2.

RocketNews24‘s videos showcase the entire painstaking process, from start to finish, of recreating those familiar foods out of polymer clay and plastic. The details on each of these foods is so real you’d think they were real meals shrunken down to Ant-Man-sized levels.

Polymer clay is a lot of fun to play, with especially when a few special tools are implemented. A garlic press turns out super-realistic noodles, plastic architectural beams make perfect mini-Pocky sticks, and a fruit crate is formed out of a heated sheet of molded plastic. The most impressive of all of these replicas is the faux potato chips, which are all hand-sculpted. These incredible teeny chips are formed using a just a toothpick and a toothbrush for texture.

The real craziness of these videos is the time and patience it takes to produce the mini models. Hand-painting and tweezing the smallest of things takes skill and determination… as does watching these videos. It’s almost excruciating to sit there and watch each strawberry undertaking its paint job. Then, before you know it, when you just don’t think you can take the audio-free madness anymore, a perfect basket of tiny strawberries appears seemingly before your eyes, and all is right in the world.

Fake food is huge in Japan, often sitting in restaurant storefronts beckoning you in for a meal. It makes sense, as sometimes descriptions don’t do the food justice. Reading a menu may not call to your natural hunger, you really need to see the dish frozen in time to make an informed decision about your meal.

Which of these mini foods is your favorite? I’m partial to Pocky sticks both big and small. Let us know in the comments!
