Watch Blur Perform ‘Song 2’ and ‘Ghost Ship’ Live in Williamsburg

For the first time in over 15 years, Blur shut it down in New York City, performing as their original four piece iteration to an intimate crowd at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. No doubt a not-to-miss concert for fans of the iconic British outfit, tickets went with the quickness (capacity at the Music Hall is only 500, after all), resulting in thousands of fans missing out on the opportunity to kick it at the surprise pop-up show — until now.

Thanks to those kind souls better known as Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree, you needn’t miss out on the experience any longer. That’s right: the band has given us access to one of their performances — in this case the show-ending, mega-hit “Song 2” — for your viewing pleasure. Isn’t the Internet grand?

Releasing the concert footage is just one thing in a long line of comeback shenanigans the band is currently taking part in — it was barely three months ago that they surprised us all with their first studio album in 12 years (since 2003’s Think Tank), The Magic Whip.

As a bonus, the band has also included the tune “Ghost Ship” off their latest album — a perfect accompaniment to the rollicking ways of “Song 2,” slowing things down just a bit to really showcase the soulful bluesy grace of Albarn’s vocals. If you have to get away for a little while, this is the tune to which you should vibe out.

What do you think of Blur’s return? Let us hear it in the comments.
