Watch Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell in THE HOUSE Trailer, and More Movie News

It’s finally friggin’ Friday! And yup, there’s a whole bunch of new movies in theaters, including Fist Fight, The Great Wall, and the bonkers A Cure for Wellness. But before you head out to the theater, today’s Movie Morsels will help you start your weekend with a laugh thanks to the first trailer for Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler‘s The House. Plus, a casting update on Jurassic World 2, a new Kong: Skull Island poster, and more!

The House

What’s a middle-aged couple to do when their daughter is accepted into an expensive university and they don’t have enough money to help pay her tuition? Why, turn their home into a sin-soaked casino of course! Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler star in what looks like a 21st century take on Risky Business, with a host of comic actors lending support, including Jason Mantzoukas and Nick Kroll. If you’ve ever wanted to see Poehler light up a flamethrower whilst descending a flight of stairs in an evening gown, well, I suggest you check out the trailer for The House

Life

It’s been a while since we’ve had a great balls-to-the-wall science-fiction horror film. Could Life fit the bill? While it looks like it starts out as something in the vein of The Martian, it seems to ultimately follow the template of Sir Ridley Scott’s first sci-fi thriller: Alien. A new featurette, with commentary from actual scientists, examines our fascination with Mars, which yields this film’s deadly titular life…

Jurassic World 2

Jurassic-World-Review-061015

Love it or hate it, one of the things missing in the recent blockbuster Jurassic World was a distinguished elderly statesman, like the kind Sir Richard Attenborough so memorably portrayed in the original Jurassic Park‘s John Hammond. Thankfully, the film’s sequel will fill that gap with Oscar nominee James Cromwell, a welcome presence in everything from Babe to L.A. Confidential to Star Trek: First Contact. There’s no word yet on exactly who Cromwell will play, but he’ll join returning stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as well as newcomers Toby Jones and Justice Smith.

Kong: Skull Island

And speaking of giant creature features, as the March 10th release date for Kong: Skull Island draws ever nearer, the Seventh Wonder of the World himself looms larger and larger. In the King Kong reboot’s latest poster, the great ape looks especially intimidating as a helicopter foolishly buzzes nearby.

Logan

Logan-Trailer-Daughter

In case you missed it yesterday, director James Mangold released a new viral video on the creation of Wolverine’s latest sidekick X-23 (played by Dafne Keen) in Logan. Warning: It’s creepy as hell (seriously, this alone explains the film’s R-rating), but it’s made me more eager than ever to witness the young mutant’s big screen debut!
