Watch Admiral Ackbar Says ‘It’s a Trap!’ 8 Different Ways

It was just this month that we had to say goodbye to the voice of Admiral Ackbar himself, Eric Bauersfeld, who passed away at the age of 93. While his place in Star Wars is much bigger (he also voiced Jabba’s right-hand man Bib Fortuna), he will forever be remembered for giving voice to one of the franchise’s most iconic and best lines: “It’s a trap!” What better way to honor his memory than to hear him recite those three words in different ways.

Jamie Stangroom has been interviewing people from the galaxy far, far away and posting the videos online for the rest of the Star Wars fandom to enjoy, and today he shared an interview he did with Bauersfeld in 2015 where he asked the voice actor to say the famous line in different styles.

Eric-Bauersfeld
Besides the classic “surprise” delivery we all love, we’ll forever have Admiral Ackbar saying, “It’s a trap,” happy, sad, disgusted, as an English gentleman (“It’s an elaborate ruse.”), as a Shakespearean character, and in a very sultry, sensuous way.

I should have warned you though, you can’t un-see Lady Ackbar. That image lives in your brain now forever. (I bet Troy McClure would have been into that though.)

Admiral Ackbar was one of the best surprises in The Force Awakens, but we hope no one is caught off guard in Episode VIII, because we wouldn’t want anyone else to alert us to an elaborate ruse, no matter the style.

Which one of these styles were your favorite? Tell us in the comments below.
