Watch a Human Version of The Classic ‘Snake’ Video Game

If you’re like me, your memories of the classic video game Snake come from your Nokia phone, and you probably wasted an obscene amount of time playing  it. You remember the game, the one where you would direct an ever-growing snake around a grid, picking up new “snake pieces” while trying no to crash into the backside of the snake itself. If you thought it was addictive time-waster before—well, just wait until you see this real-life, human version of the game.

The folks at BuzzFeed decided the world needed a human snake (thank god this game wasn’t called “Centipede”) that followed the same rules as the old Nokia version. And we are all better because of it.

The video was made in a large warehouse, with a crane used to capture the game from 100 feet above. The grid was made with LED strips to create the 27 by 48 foot playing surface. Twenty-five people sitting on desk chairs were used to create the snake, with each chair having an LED light attached to it. Amazingly, this was all done in one take.

To make the game authentic, a new person was randomly placed from one of the corners into the game as the new piece. They would turn on their chair’s light to mark their arrival in the grid, and the snake would have to react to their placement rather than anticipate, just like the actual version of the game.

Pretty sweet deal for the person at the end of the snake—hold on and just get dragged around for a fun ride!

What other game would you like to see them try to make a version of in real-life? Nominate your favorite games in the comments section below.
