For anybody who downloaded the Legendary VR App and coupled it with their Google Cardboard, they got to see what it was like to soar above Azeroth on the back of a gryphon as part of the Warcraft movie, coming out next June. For anybody who didn’t, it put the wearer/experiencer on the back of a big ol’ bird, the kind Travis Fimmel’s Lothar rides on, as you get a tour of the kingdom. It’s pretty great, and it looks like this wasn’t just a marketing gimmick; the new international TV spot for the film gives us the tiniest of glimpses of what happens after the shoeless warrior jumps onto the back of his trusty feathered friend.
Azeroth looks pretty through the clouds, it has to be said. The teaser also shows flashes of the epic battle between the Alliance of men and the Horde of orcs, which to my eyes look like they might be the standout characters of the whole thing, no offence intended to any Alliance members out there. But, all the armor and weaponry of the humans certainly looks like it’ll be cool. Gah! I can’t decide. It’s still to early to choose a side, right?
The Warcraft movie has been a long time coming, but the more images we see, the more we’re pretty sure director Duncan Jones has done the job nobody thought he could. The war is expected to craft its way (does that wordplay work?) into theaters June 10, 2016.
Let us know which side you’re on in the comments below! And if you could fly over Azeroth, would you?
