First Look at WARCRAFT’s Orgrim Doomhammer

Next fall, actor Robert Kazinsky will be headlining Fox’s new drama, The Frankenstein Code. In that series, Kazinsky plays a resurrected cop who fights crime. But Kazinsky has an even more impressive role in the upcoming Warcraft film.

Wired has published the first images of Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer, one of the main orc characters in Legendary Pictures’ upcoming Warcraft adaptation.

Orgrim is one of the most prominent characters in World of Warcraft’s history, with a backstory linked to the First and Second Wars within the game. For live action, Orgrim’s appearance was created by Industrial Light & Magic from Blizzard Entertainment’s concept art and Kazinsky’s photographs and performance to produce a very lifelike CGI orc.

“We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies,” said Warcraft director Duncan Jones. “We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.” The report notes that the same team creating Orgrim’s animation in Warcraft was also behind the Hulk CGI in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Regarding Kazinsky, Jones added that he wanted “someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character.”

Kazinsky’s Orgrim will share the screen with Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Toby Kebbell as Durotan, Paula Patton as Garona, Daniel Wu as Gul’dan, Dominic Cooper as King Llane, and Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar.

Warcraft will invade movie theaters on June 10, 2016.

What do you think of Orgrim’s look? Does it have you shouting “For the Horde!”?
