VOYAGE OF TIME Will Take an Ambitious Trip Through the Existence of the Universe

What question could be bigger, more important, or more relevant, to understanding our place in the universe than the question of where life came from in the first place? Not the question of life here on Earth, but the life of the cosmos itself? How and why does the universe exist at all, and how did a small little blue marble find itself full of creatures capable of even pondering its very existence? What is the story of time, and therefore life? Its past, its present, its future, and even its end?

Those questions are at the heart of the new documentary “collage filmVoyage of Time: Life’s Journey, which will tell the “story of the universe itself, with powerful images, from the Big Bang to the Mesozoic era and through the present and beyond.” One that promises to “illustrate the birth and death of an undiscovered universe.”

Based on the trailer and description, the movie looks to be a wonderful combination of the Neil deGrasse Tyson-hosted Cosmos mixed with a BBC nature series, crossed with a big budget Hollywood sci-fi movie and a Ken Burns documentary.

We are very big fans of all of those things, so yes, we are eagerly awaiting the release of this innovative and ambitious movie.

We came across this beautiful and dramatic trailer for the film at Entertainment Weekly, and it comes from Empire Magazine. This trailer is narrated by Cate Blanchett, who will give voice to the feature length, 90-minute version of the movie from director Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life) who also wrote the script for the film, and has called it “one of my greatest dreams.”

There will also be a shorter, 45-minute IMAX version released (Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience), narrated by Brad Pitt. That version already has its own trailer, though the two are very similar.

The universe is 14 billion years old, and though we are barely a drop in the bucket of time, we are a part of that voyage, and we are ready to explore the journey that came before, and to imagine the ones that lies ahead.

What do you think of the trailer? Journey into our comments below and tell us what you think.
