VOLTRON Season 5 Trailer Asks if We Should Trust Lotor

This post contains SPOILERS for Season 4 of Voltron: Legendary Defender. All episodes are on Netflix right now.

When we last left our heroic Paladins of Voltron and their growing number of allies, they were on their way to perhaps losing their hard-fought war against the Galra Empire, only to be met with a surprise when their adversary, Prince Lotor, the son of Emperor Zarkon, appeared to make them an offer. Obviously Lotor has his own machinations and, while he may want to take down Zarkon, he’s definitely not got the freedom of the galaxy on his wish list. So what’s a team of ragtag heroes to do? In the trailer for Season 5, we see that decision leads to a LOT more space battles.

One of the best things about Voltron is how the circumstances are constantly changing. Keith went from the pilot of the Red Lion, then the Black Lion, and now he’s not a paladin at all, using his powers to aid the covert Galra turncoats the Blade of Marmora. Lance has moved up to Red Lion, Allura is a paladin herself now, piloting Blue, and Shiro (if that is who he is?!?!?!) is back in Black. And it’s more than just who’s piloting what; new systems of rebels have joined the fight, and Lotor’s help could be the turning point they need…if it really is help.

Each season of Voltron has upped the ante in big, huge ways, and this next batch of six episodes looks like it never stops raising the stakes. We truly can’t wait!

Enjoy some stills from the next season below, and let us know your thoughts on trusting Lotor!
