Vintage Poster-Style Darth Vader 20-Inch STAR WARS Figure Is Coming to Comic-Con

Slowly but surely, Jakks Pacific is getting me to pay attention to their oversized Star Wars figures.

Look, when you already collect Hasbro, and some Sideshow, giant rotocasts don’t always scream “Buy me!” as well. But they’ve steadily upped their game, and the current Rey sculpt they’ve got going is impressive. What blows my mind a bit, however, is how for Comic-Con this year they came up with a variant even Hasbro hasn’t thought of, which we found via Toy Hype USA.

You might be familiar with this 1977 poster by the brothers Hildebrandt:

Now, are you ready for a 20-inch Darth Vader figure in that exact color scheme? Because here it is, and to coin another sci-fi movie’s catchphrase: “My God…he’s full of stars!” (As a killer of Younglings, he is also–we might argue–full of wars too. Appropriately.)

In a throwback to other vintage Kenner lines like Super Powers, he even comes with an old-fashioned action feature: squeeze his legs, and he’ll swing his lightsaber with lights and sounds! No price has been announced yet, but it’ll probably be in the $40-$50 range. If you want to pick him up, you probably won’t choke on your ambitions, or the sticker price.

Jakks have come a long way since the days when they were mostly known for wrestling figures that utilized the same three bodies over and over. The Force appears to have been strong in them. Are they Jedi yet? Vader will be the judge.

Will you join Vader, and bring him into your collection? Comment below to tell us if you’re ready to make the jump.
