What happens when Marvel’s two biggest CG titans, the Incredible Hulk and sentient space tree Groot, tangle with one another? It looks like we’re gonna find out in Avengers: Infinity War! Also in today’s Movie Morsels, a new clip from Rogue One, an update on Deadpool 2, the last casting news on Ocean’s Eight, and much, much more…
Avengers: Infinity War
So did you think the Hulk versus Iron Man fight in Avengers: Age of Ultron was something special? Well, if Vin Diesel is to be believed, then we ain’t see nothin’ yet. In a new interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy star reveals that his beloved character Groot will be tussling with the jolly jade giant in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
Speaking with Screen Junkies, Diesel says, “I know somewhere in the universe, youâre gonna see Groot and Hulk battle. You can write it somewhere, youâre gonna see that poster: Groot vs. Hulk.” As for whether a Rocket and Groot spinoff movie could happen following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the actor sounds optimistic. “I think if itâs up to James Gun youâre going to see a Groot/Rocket movie. After Infinity Wars, itâs highly possible.â
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
With Rogue One‘s release little more than a week away, Lucasfilm and Disney are pulling out all the stops in promoting the first Star Wars spinoff film, releasing new footage online almost faster than fans can keep up. Today’s bounty includes a clip from the film, which bowed at a special event in Disney World, in which Epcot’s Spaceship Earth was transformed into the Death Star. It features Mads Mikkelsen’s weapons designer Galen Erso (father of Jyn Erso) and the Death Star’s Director Orson Krennic…
There’s also a new TV spot that has few new seconds of battle footage from the film…
And last but not least we have Rogue One‘s Chinese trailer. It’s heavy with footage of the film’s Asian stars, and features a special introduction from actors Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen…
Coco
No, it’s not about chocoholics… Yesterday, we told you about the just-announced voice cast and plot of Pixar’s next film Coco, a celebration of Mexican culture set during Dia de los Muertos. Now we’ve got the film’s poster for your viewing enjoyment. It’s little more than a logo at this point, but rest assured this movie has been in production for quite some time. In fact, while visiting Pixar two years ago to interview the creators of Inside Out, I caught sight of an entire floor of production offices that were already decked out in Day of the Dead decorations to help get the studio’s employees in the spirit of the holiday…

Deadpool 2
While promoting his new Office Christmas Party, the funnyman revealed what he’d like for his character Weasel in Deadpool 2: “I have been talking with Ryan Reynolds and the writers, and they’re really excited about [Deadpool 2]. I think, for me, I just want Weasel to wield a gun, at one point. But there’s more fun stuff coming.”
Ocean’s Eight
Finally today… We’ve already heard which of our favorite actresses will make up the ensemble cast of the gender-swapped reboot of Ocean’s Eleven. Now we know who will be playing the other lead role in Ocean’s Eight: none other than Billions star Damien Lewis, who is said to be cast as the ex-lover of Sandra Bullock’s ringleader in the heist film. Said ring will consist of Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson. Not one bad apple in that bunch!
