Use the Force to Make STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Snowflakes

This time of year is about traditions. Everyone celebrates the holidays in different ways, and as we get older and start to spend holidays away from families, we start new traditions. One of mine has been making Star Wars paper snowflakes using Anthony Herrera Designs’ patterns. Well, I try to make them. I usually end up with vaguely snowflake shaped wads of paper.

Herrera has been coming up with and sharing Star Wars snowflake patterns since 2011. He’s featured characters, ships, and creatures over the years, and the pattens are always detailed and creative. With the new film on the horizon, this year’s snowflakes are all about The Force Awakens.

The collection includes BB-8, Finn, a First Order stormtrooper, Kylo Ren, Kylo Ren and his tri-blade lightsaber, Poe Dameron, and Rey. All the designs are rather intricate, but I think the lightsaber, Finn, and Rey might be the easiest ones to tackle. They have the least amount of teeny tiny lines to cut. If you want a little Yoda-like guidance before slicing snowflakes, Herrera has a handy video how-to:

Be very careful when you fold because it has an effect upon the final snowflake, and be sure to have extra X-Acto blades. You’ll need several of them because you want to use the sharpest of sharp blades for the job.

Visit the gallery below to see the other snowflake designs. Then, head to Anthony’s website to print out patterns and instructions. Which snowflakes are you going to make? Let me know in the comments.
