‘Up,’ ’65 Style

In case you haven’t yet seen how Ivan Guerrero, the guy who lashes clips of old movies and trailers together to create “Premakes” — trailers for movies as if they were made many years before they really were — did one for Pixar’s “Up” as if it were a typical live-action Disney movie from the 1960’s, here it is:

Spencer Tracy as Carl, Kirk Douglas as Charles Muntz, in the 1965 live action version of “Up!” that never existed. It really helps to be familiar with those cheesy 1960’s Disney movies, usually starring Dean Jones and/or Kurt Russell and/or Fred MacMurray, but you’ll get the idea even if you never had to suffer through “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” or “Son Of Flubber.”

There are other “Premakes” that have gotten a half-million views each, including “The Empire Strikes Back,” 3-D 1950’s version (it actually looks more 1940’s or even 1930’s, probably because he used Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers clips, but low-budget 1950’s movies often had that look as well):

I wonder if scifi is easier since it seems as if there were so many more made than any other movie back in the days before the likes of ‘ol Bill Shatner.

  2. Wonder what he’d do if he had the budget to make a movie?

  3. CaptainxBumout says:

Holy Gallifrey Batman! That’s awesome ! It really looks like Disney made a live action version of Up years ago.
