UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF’S END Delayed until 2016

With some pretty shocking news, Sony has announced that their flagship title will be trekking new territory: purgatory. Well, more like it just got delayed until 2016. This is a shocking move considering that this may be the consoles most highly anticipated title of the year, and outside of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, not much else has been announced for this holiday in the first-party AAA realm. Perhaps Sony deserves a pat on the back for this gutsy move, because any other publisher would push them to rush the title. But they know that the Uncharted name is too important to the platform, and releasing anything less than stellar would be damaging in the long run.

This is huge hit for the ongoing competition between Microsoft and Sony– no other franchise has the name sake or allure that Uncharted has on Sony’s platforms. This holiday season, barring no delays happen, the Xbox One will release a brand new Tomb Raider and their own flagship title, Halo 5– plus any unannounced titles that they may already have in the works. Sony still has E3 and the rest of the year to show us some mind-blowing games, but will they release this holiday season and can they make a market impact? It is going to be imperitave for Sony to really pull out their stops or Microsoft will dominate come the end of this year.

If there is one developer that deserves the benefit of the doubt, it is Naughty Dog. Sure, the development of the game has so far had some shaky moments with losing its creative director and writer Amy Henig, but if this team says that it will need more time, than it’s likely for the best. The last thing we need is another AAA release that doesn’t work, ahem–DriveClub, and Halo Master Chief Collection.

The demo shown off at PSX was pretty impressive, which showcased impressive lighting and particles effects, and even showing some sleek hair animations. But it looks like the game wasn’t as far along as we originally thought.

Are there any more titles that can get people excited for the PS4 this holiday season? Maybe The Last Guardian or Half Life 3? Just kidding– those will never release so we should all just move on, seriously.
