In a press release this morning, Capcom announced the digital and physical release dates for Ultra Street Fighter IV. Yep, there are two separate dates, so if you plan on getting a disc-based version of the game, you’re going to have to wait a little longer.
The latest Street Fighter IV update is coming to PSN on June 3rd and Xbox LIVE on June 4th. Then, on August 5th, retail copies will be available, followed by the PC version on August 8th. The retail version of the game will be $39.99, while you can upgrade your Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on the PC, 360, and PS3 for $14.99. The standalone PC version of the game will be priced at $29.99, which still feels kind of steep for an admittedly excellent but long-in-the-tooth game.
Those of you who are all about the preorders will get alternate costumes for Ultra‘s five new fighters.
Oh yeah, Ultra brings five new fighters to the game including Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento and Decapre, providing just enough reason to shell out a couple of extra dollars for a game that’s not Street Fighter V. That brings the total number of fighters up to a screen-crowding 44 this time around.
Besides the new characters, Capcom has promised additional gameplay balances and tweaks based on fan feedback to the existing roster of characters as well as new features and modes. One of those is the new Team Battle Mode, which adds 3v3 elimination matches to the game along with an online training mode. Neat!
