Two Turntables and a Microphone. And Cameras. And a Video Mixer, And A Lot Of Pictures

We like cool animation, don’t we? This one from Austria, Stuck in a Groove, directed by Clemens Kogler and featured by Future Shorts, is a demo for analog animation using turntables, and it’s mesmerizing. They say it was done live using two turntables, cameras, a video mixer, and prints on cardboard. The pop culture references come fast and furious, including nods to Nirvana, Madonna, Joy Division, the Sex Pistols, Bjork, and many, many others. Impressive.
