Yesterday was a rather exciting day in the world of television. If you missed the highlights, don’t worry; that’s why TV-Cap is here. The biggest happenings include the release of the full trailer for Season 3 of The 100 (I have so many questions!), casting for an important role in Outlander, and news about the Xena: Warrior Princess reboot moving forward and hiring a writer from Lost and The 100. The Professor. Outlander has cast a key role. Fans of Diana Gabaldon’s books will recognize the importance of Roger Wakefield (I won’t say why he’s important, because spoilers). The Oxford professor is the adopted son of Reverend Wakefield–he appeared in scenes with Frank Randall in season one. He’ll be played by Richard Rankin.

Set Them Free. Look. When Saturday Night Live has a sketch about Star Wars, that makes it fair game for the TV-Cap. The amusing commercial is about adult collectors who want to leave their toys in the boxes. It’s amusing because most of us know people like this. [Nerdist]

Nearing the End. Mike & Molly is headed into its last episodes. Season six will be the final one for the comedy; after the show returns on January 6, there will be 13 more episodes. Star Melissa McCarthy tweeted that she was “shocked and heartbroken” to learn about the cancellation and that she “would have shot this show for 50 more years.” [Deadline]

Put This In Your Pipe. Margaret Cho is headed back to the world of television via Amazon Prime. They’re developing a dramedy with Cho set to star and serve as executive producer. Highland is centered around marijuana and family. Yep. Cho’s family runs a pot dispensary, and she’s forced to move back in with them after court-ordered rehab. It sounds like the right kind of stage for hilarity to ensue. [Variety]

A Plan. WGN America’s Underground is set to debut on March 9, and the network has released a couple of teasers for their period drama about a group of slaves trying to flee the south. The brief look at footage features more of a thriller tone than I was expecting, but I think it works and it obviously makes sense. [A.V. Club]

Huzzah! The Xena: Warrior Princess reboot has taken a big step forward with NBC. They’ve hired Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, The Middleman) for writer and executive producer duties. He’ll executive produce alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. No word on the setting or whether Lucy Lawless will end up being involved (she isn’t as of right now), but hopefully we’ll learn more soon. Going POTUS. ABC’s upcoming conspiracy thriller Designated Survivor has found the ideal candidate to play the President of the United States: Kiefer Sutherland. It would be perfect if the president was somehow Jack Bauer, but that won’t make any sense. Sutherland will play a U.S. Cabinet member who unexpectedly gets shoved into the president’s role after his superiors are killed in an attack during the State of the Union. [TVLine]

Threats Everywhere. The CW’s The 100 is the best show you’re not watching. Actually, several of you are probably watching, but everyone should be tuning in. It’s merciless, heartrending, and smart. Season three returns on January 21, and the full length trailer is here. Things are only getting more intense between the Grounders and the Sky People. We’re in for a ride. And probably tears.
