The network television season is winding down, but don’t fret because you’ll still have new episodes of TV to enjoy over the summer. Game of Thrones still has half a season left, Mr. Robot will be back in July, and AMC’s Preacher kicks off on May 22. It Came from Space. AMC’s adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Preacher will arrive with a bang on May 22–or should I say an explosion? You can see for yourself because AMC has released the first five minutes of the pilot. Be warned: Once you watch this you’ll be itching to have more of the series in your eyeballs immediately. Full Circle. Bates Motel’s fifth and final season is embracing Psycho. Series executive producer Carlton Cuse confirmed to TVLine that Marion Crane–you know, the shower scene victim–will appear in multiple episodes. He added, “We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring to just recreate Psycho.” [TVLine]
It Isn’t Over. The 100 isn’t the sort of show you watch if you need a laugh, and that won’t change with the season three finale. Part two of the closer will air Thursday, May 19 and we have an exclusive look at the pain ahead. [Nerdist]
R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The Marvel Cinematic Universe includes the films and television series. The movies have been referenced in shows like Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it hasn’t been a two-way street. The point hasn’t escaped S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Chloe Bennet. During an appearance at Wizard World Des Moines she was asked about the Avengers being tapped for the Hive problem and said: “People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? A Dark, Stormy Night. Fox is resurrecting and reimagining The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a two-hour TV event in October. We’ve seen a picture of Laverne Cox in costume as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, and now we can see her in action in the first teaser. I’m ready to do the time warp again. [Deadline]
History Lesson. AMC is embracing sequential art’s past with a new documentary series tentatively titled Heroes and Villains: The History of Comic Books. Robert Kirkman and David Alpert will executive produce the six-part series scheduled to premiere in 2017. They’ll “explore the stories, people, and events that have transformed the world of comic books.”
Unlikely Partners. Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d say: I’m interested in watching Fox’s new Lethal Weapon television series. The trailer introduces their Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh and a more humorous tone. I’m at least curious enough to watch the pilot when it debuts next fall. [Nerdist]
