TV-Cap: VIKINGS Season 4 Premiere Date, THE 100 Poster, and More

Can you believe we made it to December 18? In between your trips to a galaxy far, far away today (if you can manage it), let’s take a moment to review the latest happenings in the world of television. Today’s TV-Cap has the highlights reel, including the premiere date for Season 4 of Vikings, a costume preview of the next season of Outlander, a poster for The 100, and more.

More Vikings. When History’s Vikings returns with Season 4 this year, it’s on course to be bigger and better than ever. The period drama will come back on February 18, and the network announced that they’ve picked up an additional four episodes on top of the initial 16-episode order. So, we’ll have 20 episodes (I can do math!). History will air a new episode every Thursday for ten consecutive weeks, and then the second half of the episodes will air later in the year.

Rough and Tumble. If you need a show about different sorts of battles than the ones Vikings offers, consider WGN America’s Outsiders. The series is about a power struggle within Appalachia, specifically within the Farrell clan. The show debuts on January 26, and the trailer looks like it’s quite intense. [TV Fanatic]

In Review. So many relationships in Marvel’s Jessica Jones were intriguing, especially Jessica’s interactions with Luke Cage. The guy got swept into a world where he learned about mind control and a woman with super strength who could hold her own against him. Alicia caught with up actor Mike Colter about Cage’s presence in Jessica Jones and what’s ahead for Luke Cage and The Defenders. Read the interview right this way.

Haunt It Out. Why bust ghosts when you can talk to them? Fox is developing a new paranormal drama called Apparition set in New Orleans. It focuses on a doctor who finds out she can connect with the afterlife, and she decides to help ghosts find peace by talking to them rather than capturing or destroying them. It’s one approach. A Woman Alone. Clarke makes standing on a hill look fierce. It sounds like I’m kidding, but I’m not. The 100 lead is a badass, and she looks it in a new poster for Season 3. The series returns on January 21, and as you can see, they have a new location on the horizon. [Jason Rothenberg, Image: The CW]

Pausing to Dance. An exciting thing happened on the most recent American Horror Story: Hotel: Matt Bomer danced. It’s delightful any time the Magic Mike star gets to throw down some moves. Read about that as well as the rest of the episode with Samantha’s recap of “She Gets Revenge.”

Early Access. Releasing episodes early online has become a thing recently, and American Crime is joining the fun. ABC has released the first episode of Season 2 of the drama for free on iTunes even though it won’t air until January 6. [TVLine]

Casting a Spell. Speaking of shows dropping early, Syfy aired a pre-premiere for The Magicians. The show will officially drop on the network on January 8, but they decided to bring fans of the Lev Grossman books that inspired the show a holiday treat. Was it worth opening? Read Rachael’s review of the first episode.

The Fanciest Frocks. Season 2 of Outlander isn’t coming to Starz until next season, but Frock Flicks has a look ahead at the costumes by Terry Dresbach. The show is set in France at the outset, and the silks of the courts are much different than the homespun of the Highlands. If you’re into the costumes, I recommend checking out the details the site has put together from behind-the-scenes pics and official promo material.

Another quick note before you go: since the holidays are upon us, and it’s the time of year when things tend to slow down, we’re going to cut back on TV-Cap. The daily round-up will be back on January 4, but until then, I’ll drop in with the news about once a week. I hope you have an excellent Nerdmas!

What do you think about the city seen in the poster for The 100? Will you be tuning into Vikings? Sound off in the comments.
