TV-Cap: THE WALKING DEAD Destroys Ratings Competition, and the CARE BEARS Get a Netflix Reboot

Top o’ the morning to all you Tuesday morning TV lads and lasses. Get out of bed, OK? Arrive at work on time? No matter either way — we’ve got just the thing to get you ready for your day regardless of how crappy your morning was or was not. It’s the Nerdist TV-Cap, of course! (What were you thinking?)

We’re All Ready for the Zombie Apocalypse: I’m starting to think The Walking Dead is, like, our generation’s M*A*S*H or something. (But with zombies. Natch.) I say that because a veritable fuckton of you — like, literally everyone maybe ever but STILL NOT MORE PEOPLE THAN THE BIG BANG THEORY what in the world — watched the season five premiere of The Walking Dead. 17.3 MILLION, in fact. Holy tamooley! AMC isn’t even a broadcast network, you guys. Do you realize how bananagrams those numbers are? Like seriously, that’s so many people. I’m proud of you all, your preparedness for our eventual zombie apocalypse gives me hope for the future. Also for good TV. I mean the damn thing even beat out the NFL. On a Sunday. Zombies beat out SPORTS, you guys. SPORTS! [Deadline]

Speaking of TWD: Hardwick moderated their NYCC panel. WATCH IT RIGHT HERE RIGHT MEOW: [Nerdist]

You’re The Best: There’s a great interview with Stephen Falk, creator of the oh-so-good show You’re The Worst up at THR that is super worth your time if you love that show, interesting conversations, and also television. [The Hollywood Reporter]

No YOU’RE of Interest!: That CBS show with the creepy guy from Lost and Jesus on it (JAYKAY you guys he only played him in a movie!), Person of Interest, revealed some brand spankin’ new footage over the weekend at New York Comic-Con and we’ve got the video of it right now. Bask in Jim Cavezial’s non-Jesus glow for a change:

Gaiman on Gender: Doctor Who fans likely remember one of our TV-Caps from earlier where we discussed Neil Gaiman’s issue with the show’s very own gender issues. Well! Apparently he has more to say on the matter since all that went down — namely that they’re trying really, really hard to get a lady to write on Who. They swear. We’re just going to ignore all the excuses though and wait until we see something concrete (namely a woman’s name on the series’ writing credits), though. [The Mary Sue]

American Renewal Story: Yes, that’s right, Ryan Murphy’s television torture chamber American Horror Story has been renewed for season 5. We’re so excited, we’re so scared! (We’re so Jessie Spano right now.) [Nerdist]

Get Your CareBear Stare On: Netflix is reviving the series oh gosh our childhood is rebooting itself. [Entertainment Weekly]

Oh, What an Affair!: Are you guys watching The Affair on Showtime? If you haven’t heard, we’re sorta really into it. There’s a lot of good and interesting stuff going on and it doesn’t all have to do with Joshua “Pacey Whitter/Peter Bishop” Jackson. Just take a look at this clip from what’s coming this season, that should prove it:

Matt and Ben are Getting All Syfy On Us: Yes, the boys are getting all up on the sci-fi train with a new espionage thriller titled Incorporated, over on Syfy. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Trans-Affirmative Action on Transparent: Well, this is nice: Transparent creator Jill Soloway is so committed to having a trans writer on staff she’s going to work with a bunch of transgender women writers in an effort to get them script-ready and on her show. Because, you know, it’s nice to have a person who has dealt with transitioning in the writers room of a show about transitioning. Great thing is great: [Vulture]

Gotham Gets a Full Season: This is interesting mostly because Gotham‘s showrunner didn’t want it. He wanted 16 episodes, not 22. Yeah well you can’t always get what you want, because FOX has asked for 22 episodes. This won’t totally blow up in their faces NO WAY not at all! [Entertainment Weekly]

So — admit it: who of you out there ISN’T watching The Walking Dead? Let us hear your secret shame in the comments.
