TV-Cap: The CW Renews Everything, LUKE CAGE Gets Premiere Date, and More

Did springing forward for Daylight Saving time beat anyone else up? It feels like the time adjustment cost me a whole night of sleep instead of one hour. I’m taking a break from lifting my coffee cup though — there is TV news to discuss, and you need to read it. Today’s TV-Cap has a list of renewals from The CW, a premiere date for Luke Cage, a clip from the next episode of Supergirl, and more.

If It’s Not Broken… The CW’s scripted content draws in various levels of ratings, but apparently that’s not all that counts, because the network has handed out renewals for 11 of their scripted shows–basically, everything except Containment. That means Supernatural is entering season 12, iZombie and The Flash will get season three, The 100 has a fourth season, etc. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Going Bad. What happens when Kara Danvers is exposed to red kryptonite on Supergirl? She gets brutally honest. The above clip from “Falling,” airing on Monday, March 14, will give you a taste of Kara’s new attitude. [Comic Book Resources]

A Better Caretaker. Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor on Doctor Who and also a massive fan of the show. He recently spoke with Newsweek and mentioned BBC might not be taking the best care of the time-traveling series. Sounds like Capaldi and I are in agreement on that topic. Read the entire interview at Newsweek. [Nerdist]

She’s Back. The nine-episode Prison Break reboot miniseries event is bringing back yet another original cast member: Sarah Wayne Callies. Fox has nabbed her to reprise her role as Dr. Sara Tancredi. Sara’s remarried, and Mark Feuerstein will play her new husband. [Nerdist]

So Close. What happens when Community’s cast and crew try to sing the show’s theme song? Hilarity. Of course. I wouldn’t expect any less from the folks involved with the quirky comedy. They try their best in a clip included in the season six DVD’s special features. [Nerdist]

A “Hollywood Madam.” Julie Benz has landed in a role in CBS’ pilot for Training Day. The reimagining of the 2001 film is set in the present day and stars Bill Paxton (Frank Rourke). Benz will appear in a regular role as Holly McCabe. She’s a “Hollywood madam” who takes the very best care of her her girls, and she’s in a relationship with Frank. [Deadline]

Family Leader. All sorts of film actors are making the leap to the small screen for interesting projects lately, including Sam Neill. He’ll star in a new show from AMC called The Son. The drama is based on a book by Philipp Meyer and is about a powerful Texas family; Neill will play Eli McCullough, the leader of that family. [Variety]

Wrapping It Up. The premiere of season four of Banshee is almost here. The Cinemax series will return for its final season on April 1. They have some new cast members for the last eight episodes: Eliza Dushku will play FBI profile Veronica Dawson, Ana Ayora is Banshee deputy Nina Cruz, and Casey LaBow is slated to play Maggie.

Have Some Sizzle. The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow is taking a one-week break (it’s back on March 31), so please enjoy this showy sizzle reel featuring most of the team–even Heat Wave. [Comic Book Resources]

Spilling Seekrits. Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada hit the red (actually black) carpet for the season two premiere of Daredevil and while talking to Decider, he touched on the topics of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You can read his comments right this way. Mike Colter got in on it too and revealed to Marvel’s correspondent that Luke Cage will arrive on Netflix on September 30. [Nerdist]

What are your thoughts on the timing for the Luke Cage premiere? Let me know in the comments.
