TV-Cap: SUPERGIRL Ordered to Series, IZOMBIE and POWERS Renewed, and More

May is here, Upfronts are around the corner, and the fate of some shows hang in the proverbial balance. Cancellations and renewals are seemingly flying down the pipeline, and we have more than a couple of updates for you today. Read on to learn about what’s next for shows such as Supergirl and iZombie and see a promo for next week’s The Flash, a teaser for Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, and more!

All Season Long. We’ve been hearing about the Supergirl pilot and its killer cast line-up for a little while, and we can expect to hear more because CBS has greenlit a full season of the series starring Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El. Given that Greg Berlanti is on board as producer, I hope we’ll see crossovers between Supergirl and The Flash and Arrow. Could you even imagine? [Nerdist, image: Ali Adler]

Dance Party Time. Throw your hands up, Clone Club, and have an impromptu dance party (like there’s any other kind!) because Orphan Black has been renewed for Season 4. The mysteries–because you know there will be more unanswered questions after this season wraps–will continue in 2016, and Season 4 will have 10 episodes. [Variety]

Here Be Magic. A different look at the history of England is coming next month in Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Based on the novel by Susanna Clarke, the TV adaptation stars Eddie Marsan (Norrell) and Bertie Carvel (Strange) as magicians–Norrell is experienced and Strange is a rookie. They go toe to toe in 1806 London, and the first clip shows off humor and adventure with a side of the supernatural. The seven part series premieres on BBC America on June 13. [Deadline]

The Undead Live On. There’s so much news to celebrate today! Here’s the next reason to clap your hands: The CW has renewed iZombie! The series based on the comic of the same name by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred is clever, different, and all the fun so I’m thrilled to hear it’s coming back for round two. [Variety]

Not the Last Man. Will Forte’s The Last Man on Earth has picked up a new showrunner. Dan Sterling (The Interview) is on board for Season 2; the season is slated for 13 episodes at the moment but they miiight do more. Maybe. [Give Me My Remote]

Now It’s a Fight. Barry Allen has had a hard time stopping Harrison Wells, a.k.a. Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, a.k.a. The Man in Yellow. He’s fast but not fast enough. The penultimate episode of The Flash Season 1, “Rogue Air,” will give Barry some back-up. The above clip shows Firestorm and Arrow at Barry’s side ready to throw down against Wells. Heck. Yes. [CBR]

But, Grodd. Let’s not forget about the most recent installment of The Flash because Grodd! The telepathic gorilla went after Barry and pals in the appropriately titled “Grodd Lives,” and it was just joyous. And also mildly terrifying. Read Joseph’s recap.

Yes, Another One. Yet another renewal to get excited about: PlayStation is moving forward with a second season of Powers. The superhero drama based on the comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming was available only on the PlayStation Network and was apparently a success. Season 2 will be out in 2016 and will continue to follow Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) and include more “fan-favorite characters.”

Mother’s Day Tips. Hey, Mother’s Day is this weekend! Not sure how to celebrate the special day? Norman Bates (yes, the one from Bates Motel) has some tips for you. Prepare to take notes and then watch the video here at Nerdist.

What shows are you hoping will get renewed other than Marvel’s Agent Carter? Tell me in the comments or come talk to me on Twitter.
