When the first Arrow and The Flash crossovers aired last year, it seemed like we’d reached peak comic book television. How could it get better? It keeps expanding though, and the first image from this year’s crossover shows an even bigger line-up of heroes. Everyone’s at the Party. Remember the epic-ness of the Arrow and The Flash crossover last year? You’re getting more. The crossover will again happen on both series and will air the week after Thanksgiving. The episode is more of a two-parter this year, and the first promo shot shows Speedy, Black Canary, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl are joining the line-up. [Coming Soon]
Shuffling Around. Different seasons mean an opportunity for change, and Fox is taking advantage of the upcoming winter break to rearrange their schedule. The big changes: Lucifer will premiere on Monday, January 25 after The X-Files, Sleepy Hollow is moving to Fridays, and Bones isn’t on the list of returning shows at all. Force-ful Awards. When the American Music Awards airs on ABC on November 22, it will have a connection to the galaxy far, far away. Disney is all about using their entire portfolio to promote Star Wars ahead of The Force Awakens, and in this case it means a performance of John Williams’ Star Wars score by a cappella group Pentatonix. Dramatic Lighting Rules. The revival of The X-Files is a mere two months away—yeah, that countdown calendar has moved pretty quickly. Fox has released a few new images for the likely to be eerie continuation of the series, and they show off Mulder and Scully, as well as Skinner and The Cigarette Smoking Man. [IGN]
More Weird Things. It’s official: American Horror Story will be back for at least one more freaky season. The series is currently airing its fifth, subtitled Hotel, and FX has given the greenlight for Season 6. That’ll Do. Fans of The Walking Dead have been anticipating the arrival of Negan, and it’s finally going to happen to happen at the end of the current season. He’ll appear in the Season 6 finale, and AMC has found a killer actor to portray him: Jeffrey Dean Morgan. You probably know him from a ton of shows; I remember him as John Winchester on Supernatural. He has serious chops, and I think he’ll make a tremendous villain. [Nerdist]
Hard Day at the Office. I’m officially creeped out by David Tennant’s Kilgrave. I guess that’s sort of the point of the trailers for Netflix’s Jessica Jones. His power is intangible, and that’s the scariest kind of power. The latest trailer shows Jessica kicking ass, drinking, and wrestling with demons—including Kilgrave. I am ridiculously excited for this series. It drops on November 20. [Nerdist]
Third Time’s a Charm. Fox’s upcoming midseason drama inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and starring Rob Kazinsky and Tim DeKay has changed its name for the third time. First, it was The Frankenstein Code. Next, it was Lookinglass. And now? It’s Second Chance. Having seen the pilot, I think Second Chance fits the best and removes the insta-connection people will make to Alice in Wonderland. [Variety]
A Fan Campaign. It’s been far too long since Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a regularly scheduled program on television, but series creator Joel Hodgson wants to change that. He’s worked out some legal rights issues and started a Kickstarter campaign to fund new episodes. He’s asking for two million and as of right now, fans have donated over one million—and the campaign just kicked off. I’m feeling optimistic that we’ll have more MST3K in the near future. [Nerdist]
Meeting Baby. The 1967 Chevrolet Impala is a key part of the Supernatural story. I was part of a group of journalists that got to visit the set of Supernatural recently, and while I was there, I got up close and personal with Baby. The Struggle Is Real. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are two busy guys. Another one of their projects was just ordered by Fox: the animated and live-action hybrid comedy called Son of Zorn. The premise according to The Hollywood Reporter, “The comedy centers on animated warrior Zorn who, upon arriving home on Earth for the first time in 10 years, finds that reconnecting with his live-action son, Alan, and ex-wife, Edie, while suffering through a mundane office job and the banality of suburban life is harder than waging war in his distant mystical homeland of Zephyria.” It will premiere in the 2016-2017 season.
