TV-Cap: Previews for ARROW, THE FLASH, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, & a MEL BROOKS HBO Special

It’s a beautiful day in the TV-hood, isn’t it? The sun is shining, birds are singing, and we’re coming at you live from the Television Critics Association winter tour — where a bevy of news about your favorite shows and networks is breaking. And while we wade through all the small screen business so you don’t have to, we’ve compiled a list of things you may want to see, hear, and know. Like new promos for Arrow, The Flash, Mel Brooks’ HBO special, and American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Aaaaaaaand there’s even a poster for Last Man on Earth! Who loves ya, babies? The TV-Cap does. So let’s dig in!

Shot Through the Heart: Danger! Drama! Gunfire! Intrigue! Darkness! John Barrowman! This new promo for Arrow‘s return on January 21st is insane. So much shattered glass and terrifying battle scenes (we mean that in the most badass of ways) — is anyone else counting down the minutes and/or seconds? Nope not us totally no way (OK maybe we’re lying). Man that fight with Ra’s al Ghul has some repercussions for everyone, huh?

First Look at the New Mythbusters: We have it! Right here! Read the thing! [Nerdist]

The Last Poster on Earth: Are you alive? So is Phil Miller — and he wants to meet you! The star of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s new Fox comedy, Last Man on Earth — as played by Will Forte — has somehow survived a humanity-ending event in the year 2022, and he’s looking for other lost souls out there by any means necessary. Which is where the idea for this adorable little poster to publicize the show came from, and we’re sharing it right here — with you! [TVLine]

More Mel Brooks: Dubbed a comedy special 87 years in the making, the incomparable Mel Brooks has filmed a comedy special for HBO and it’s airing on January 31st — Mel Brooks Live at the Geffen. [Mel Brooks]

The Forecast is Stormy but Strong: The weather forecast for The Flash‘s latest cast addition? Liam McIntyre! The Spartacus actor has been tapped to play Mark Mardon — otherwise known as the Weather Wizard — a 60s era supervillian and member of the Rogues that really, really does not like Barry Allen. For a fun bit of background: Mark Mardon is the brother of Clyde Mardon (Chad Rook), who we saw in the series premiere. But it’s not all fun and games for Mark as he returns to Central City — oh no, it’s vengeance he wants. And Joe West better look out for it! [Entertainment Weekly]

Speaking of The Flash…: There’s a new promo for the series’ January 20th return. And, hoo boy, is it a doozy. Not only are we going to see Wentworth Miller return to the series as Captain Cold, but we’ll also get the arrival of Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and the Pied Piper (Andy Mientus). It’s a SUPER BUNCHA FELLAS, y’all! Gimmie gimmie gimmie.

Rejoice Our Return to the Realm: HBO announced that Game of Thrones (and also Veep and Silicon Valley — !!!) will return to OUR world on Sunday, April 12th. Weee! [Nerdist]

Wednesday Bloody Wednesday: Neil Patrick Harris’ bloody reign on American Horror Story: Freak Show is only going to get bloodier and crazier by the looks of this promo for next season. Weird, new, different, and unexpected for this show, right? (Just kidding.)

So — how excited are we all for the new episodes of The Flash and Arrow? Are we happy with the casting of the Weather Wizard? Let us know in the comments!

You mention ‘next season’ during your AHS:FS newsbite, but it’s only a promo for the next EPISODE… I was worried that they were changing up the single-season story anthology format super late in the game.
