It’s a busy Tuesday, everyone, so buckle in. Today’s TV-Cap is overflowing with things you want to know: the premiere date for AMC’s Preacher, a trailer for season two of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, another trailer for season four of Orphan Black, a casting update for Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and more. So Moody. The television adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic Preacher isn’t very far away at all. AMC announced the date along with the above smoky, dramatic poster. Forget Subtext. Xena reboot writer and executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach has been addressing concerns about a recent event in The 100 on Tumblr, and while answering those questions, he discussed Xena. He specifically said, “There is no reason to bring back Xena if it is not there for the purpose of fully exploring a relationship that could only be shown subtextually in first-run syndication in the 1990s.” Finally! Apocalyptic News. Joshua Sasse has landed a lead role in a pilot for The CW. He’s playing a man who believes the apocalypse is nigh in No Tomorrow. If the pilot gets picked up, it has Sasse in first position. That means he’s committed to it. So if Galavant does score a season three renewal, it will move forward without Sasse’s Galavant. An Unlikely Hero. Star Wars Rebels features a droid named Chopper as part of the primary cast, and the astromech is grumpy and delightful. He’s been described by Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni as having a similar personality to the family cat. I love him; he’s my favorite droid. He’s the star of Wednesday’s episode, “The Forgotten Droid,” and clips show him trying to find a new left leg to match the one he apparently lost. [Star Wars]
More, Please. The first season of Cinemax’s Outcast doesn’t premiere until June 3, but that’s not stopping Cinemax from renewing the show starring Patrick Fugit for season two. The second season will likely air in 2017. [Nerdist]
Growing Up. Kimmy Schmidt is making the world a Kimmier place, and I can’t wait to jump on the bandwagon in season two of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Netflix has released the first trailer, and it looks like there will be all sorts of awkward moments of Kimmy trying to navigate the foreign world around her. The Writer. Netflix’s adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events has added another impressive name to the cast: Patrick Warburton will play Lemony Snicket. I think it’s pretty much perfect. Snicket is a writer-photographer on the run from police and foes. Neil Patrick Harris will portray Count Olaf in the series. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Kicking Ass. Elektra is part of season two of Daredevil, and she and Matt Murdock work side by side to take down some ninjas in a clip released by AOL.
