TV-Cap: PREACHER and 12 MONKEYS Have Been Renewed

Renewals, casting, Comic-Con, oh my! The week is almost over, but TV-Cap is heating up. Read today’s roundup of the latest television news to get updates on Preacher and 12 Monkeys, to find out which television shows HBO is bringing to Comic-Con, to learn the directors list for season seven of Game of Thrones, and more.

Give Us More. AMC and Syfy announced one renewal each on Wednesday. Preacher will return for a second season, and it will be expanded—they’ll get 13 episodes next time around. On Syfy, 12 Monkeys nabbed a 10-episode season three. [Nerdist, Entertainment Weekly]

Part of Your World. How did Varys get from Point A to Point B so quickly in the Game of Thrones finale? It’s not a set-up for a joke, it’s a legitimate question. Dan tackles it in The Dan Cave and considers the possibility that Varys is a merman. Look, it wouldn’t be the weirdest thing to happen in the Seven Kingdoms. [Nerdist]

Binge, Sassenachs, Binge! Outlander is taking a wee break before the 90-minute season two finale airs on July 9, but you can use the pause to catch-up. Starz will air all 12 episodes of Outlander’s second season beginning Saturday, July 2, at 12:00p.m. ET/PT. Pour some scotch and get comfy.

Resuscitated. Ah, Netflix, rescuer of series from the past. The streaming service has turned its attention to a reimagining of Lost in Space. The ’60s sci-fi show focused on the Robinson family, who were stranded in, you guessed it, space. The new take on the classic will premiere in 2018 with 10 episodes. [TVLine]

A Tease. FX has revealed the logo for the sixth season of American Horror Story, which includes a question mark in the design. Is that is a tease or some clue about the theme for next season? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. [Variety, Image: FX/Twitter]

Hear Ye, Hear Ye. Who will be at the helm next year in Westeros? HBO has released the list of directors for season seven of Game of Thrones. It’s all men and includes some returning names such as Miguel Sapochnik (he directed the season six finale) and Alan Taylor. Read more about the directors here at Nerdist.

In Brightest Day. TV Insider reports a reporter has been cast in Arrow. They say Carly Pope will play Susan Williams; in the comics, she’s the wife of Hal Jordan’s brother—as in the Green Lantern Hal Jordan. Do you think that character will make his way to the DCTV-verse? [Comic Book Resources]

Time for the Spotlight? Could it be time for BoJack Horseman to turn things around? He’s suffered through a hard run in the first two seasons of the Netflix animated series, but the trailer for season three shows a change of luck for the horse. Maybe. The show returns on July 22. [Nerdist]

San Diego Bound. HBO is bringing other series besides Game of Thrones to Comic-Con this year. That show will, of course, appear in Hall H as usual, but HBO is also showing off Silicon Valley and Vice Principals. I don’t think the latter is necessarily a fit for Comic-Con, but what do I know? Get the detailed schedule for HBO’s panels at Deadline.

Will you be trying to catch any HBO panels at Comic-Con? Let me know in the comments.
