Worf at the Helm. It’s been a little while since we’ve had a new Star Trek series on television. Michael Dorn would like to fix that. The actor who played Worf pitched a show based on the character and is apparently still pursuing it. He spoke with The Cinema Source about his ideas for the Captain Worf series. It’s a lot of pie in the sky sort of stuff but intriguing nonetheless. [Nerdist]
Hello, France! It’s time to leave the sweeping vistas of Scotland behind. Claire and Jamie are headed to France for Season 2 of Outlander (though production will continue to take place in Scotland), and they’ll be meeting a plethora of new faces. We have an idea about the characters because the second season is based on Diana Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber, and now, we can put faces to two of the names. Robert Cavanah (Doctors) will play Jamie’s cousin, the wine merchant Jared Fraser, and Stanley Weber (Borgia) will play the ruthless Le Comte St. Germain. A Cookie Admirer? Season 2 of Empire is adding a new character who will take an interest of some kind in Cookie Lyons. But is Laz Delgado giving her attention because of professional reasons or something else? Delgado will be played by Adam Rodriguez. [TV Fanatic]
Up Your Prescription. You need another dose of medicine, and the best medicine is laughter. Therefore, a seventh season of Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital is the cure you’re looking for. The series parodies serious medical dramas and does so with hilarious results. [Nerdist]
Have a TV Show. Comedy Central is adding a new, no-holds-barred show to their roster starring Nikki Glaser. They’ve ordered 10 episodes of Not Safe with Nikki Glaser for 2016. It will have pre-taped segments, interviews with other comedians featuring personal stories about sex and who knows what else, and “social experiments.” This sounds like just the show for those who prefer a little NSFW with their comedy. “Thriller” in Westeros. If you’ve watched Game of Thrones: “Hardhome” then you know the ending is horrific and brutal. The best way to fix that and add some levity is to pair the events with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Watch the mash-up at Vulture (there are obviously spoilers for the episode).
Get Your Mega Buster Ready. Mega Man is coming back to a TV near you. Huzzah! The franchise will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2017, and Man of Action Entertainment is working with Dentsu Entertainment on a new animated series consisting of 26 episodes. [Nerdist]
The Banana Stand’s Not Empty. Could the Bluths be getting back together again? It seems likely. Arrested Development producer appeared on Adam Carolla’s podcast this week and said more of the comedy is on way. “Well, I had a conversation with Fox today, this morning. Netflix is determined to do more episodes, so we’re gonna do more episodes. We’re going to do it [at] the turn of the year. January, February we’re gonna start it. […] Mitch Hurwitz, who I just called while I was sitting out there in your beautiful waiting room. […] I made the call to Mitch to say everybody’s into it.” Grazer also spoke about doing 17 more episodes of the show while at SXSW. There are obviously a lot of moving pieces that have to fall into place. I mean, just wrangling the cast and their schedules will be a challenge. But, they did it once so… fingers crossed. Escaping Again. Limited series or event series seem to be quite the popular revival choice these days. Heroes Reborn is returning that way, and Fox may be using the format to bring back Prison Break. TVLine reports Fox is developing a reunion project starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. Both of those actors are part of Legends of Tomorrow, but they could probably make room in their schedules. [TVLine]
Six Seasons And… Season 6 of Community just wrapped at Yahoo Screen, and though the fan chant has become #SixSeasonsAndaMovie, a seventh season is possible. Deadline reports conversations are happening between Yahoo and Sony Pictures TV and a Yahoo spokesperson said, “With the season six finale of Community airing today, we’re continually excited by how much fans are engaging with the series. Now that all episodes are available for binge viewing, stay tuned for how we keep Community delighting its fans.” That’s certainly open to interpretation. [Deadline]
