Today’s round-up of television news has mostly good news (and fun clips!) but also a dose of bad news. Or maybe I should say sad or disappointing news. That news is about the rumored Legend of Zelda series on Netflix. You’ve been warned. Count Your Sestras. Orphan Black returns with Season 3 on April 18, and I can’t even imagine the kind of problems Sarah Manning is facing. In a new sneak peak from the premiere, she meets a new Castor clone who knows a disturbing amount about Sarah and her family. It gives me chills. Honestly, all the Castor clones have that effect on me. [TV Fanatic]
Stylish Clones. Prepare yourselves, Orphan Black fans. Hot Topic is releasing a snazzy collection of clothing inspired by Sarah, Cosima, Alison, and Helena. Yes, I’m drooling too. The line includes jackets and dresses that are modeled on designs from the show and inspired by the clones’s personalities. [Nerdist]
Swing the Ax. Lifetime is bringing back Lizzie Borden. Their 2014 biopic titled Lizzie Borden Took an Ax was so successful they’re revisiting the character in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. Christina Ricci is reprising her role as Borden in the limited series that takes place after Borden received an acquittal for the double murder of her parents. Ricci sums up her feelings about the character, “I don’t like her, but she’s endlessly entertaining.” I know so many people who fit that description, but you know, without the serial killer parts. Bruce Banner Debate. A clip from tonight’s new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. shows Fitz-Simmons treating Skye and getting into a debate about her powers. Fitz thinks Skye could control her powers and become as powerful as members of the Avengers, but Simmons? She compares Skye to the Hulk and a debate about Bruce Banner ensues. [Twitter]
Whoa There, Epona. Remember that time we thought a live-action Legend of Zelda Netflix series was in development? It sadly might not be so. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata spoke to Time and said, “As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.” That article he references is the one from Wall Street Journal reporting the live-action series was in the works. You can’t see it, but my face is so sad right now. [Nerdist]
After the Crusades. The History channel is working with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield’s production company–The Combine–to develop a new scripted series about the Knights Templar. Knightfall will explore the events around the date when members of the Order were burned at the stake. [Variety]
About That Ending. Game of Thrones showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff recently spoke at Oxford Union and confirmed something many of us suspected: They’re going to get to the ending of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire before the author will. That means the television series will essentially spoil the broad strokes of the book. I half expected them to create an alternate universe ending so I’m glad this is the route they’re going. [Nerdist]
Arrow vs Atom. Tomorrow night’s Arrow (“Suicidal Tendencies”) seemingly has it all: Love, action, and an epic battle. Diggle and Lyla get pulled away from their honeymoon for a mission with the Suicide Squad and Ray Palmer learns the true identity of Arrow. Similarly, Oliver finds out about Ray’s super suit and isn’t thrilled. The above clip shows the briefest of teases of an Arrow and Atom showdown. [CBR]
Wet Your Whistle. Netflix’s upcoming take on Wet Hot American Summer isn’t exactly top secret, but information on new characters is hard to come by. However, TVLine talked to John Slattery at a junket for Mad Men and learned some tidbits about his Wet Hot American Summer character. “Claude Dumet is a theater director. I’m trying to think, what can I tell you? I’ll give it away. I’m a theater director who comes to direct a camp production.” All eight episodes of Wet Hot American Summer: First Day At Camp will be available on Netflix on July 17. [TVLine]
