TV-Cap: New GAME OF THRONES Photos, OUTLANDER Renewed, and More

Is it Sunday yet? Because I need more Game of Thrones posthaste. Since I have a few more days, I’ll settle for some new photos and I’m sharing them with you in today’s TV-Cap. See the latest from Westeros, get the scoop on the renewal of Outlander, and learn about an update on the release of the Twin Peaks revival.

Will the North Remember? The upcoming episode of Game of Thrones is already the seventh chapter of the season. Goodness. Titled “The Broken Man,” the description is as follows: “The High Sparrow eyes another target. Jaime confronts a hero. Arya makes a plan. The North is reminded.” Two things have me extra excited: That last sentence and the fact that Bronn is returning. I’m looking forward to seeing Sansa and Jon hopefully sway the great houses of the North to boot the Boltons out, and I’m anticipating all the hopefully entertaining banter between Bronn and Jaime. See more pictures from the episode here at Nerdist.

The Current Plan. The release of the Twin Peaks continuation on Showtime has been all over the map, and the network’s CEO shared an update. During a conference call, David Nevins told reporters the series should air in the second quarter of 2017. Hey, it’s more specific than “early 2017.” [Vulture]

Commitment. More than a few bidders apparently went after Purity, a series based on the book of the same name by Jonathan Franzen. It’s no wonder considering the Scott Rudin-produced series stars Daniel Craig. Showtime won, though, and they’ve given it a straight-to-series pickup with a 20 episode order. In case you’re wondering, that’s a lot. The 20 episodes will be split between two years. [Variety]

Secrets! Season seven of Pretty Little Liars will arrive on Freeform on June 21. I can’t say that I watch the show, but anytime I see people talk about it, I notice how worked up they get. So, it seemed like a fine idea to share some teases from TVLine about what’s ahead. They looked around the interwebs for clues, and you can read what they found right this way.

Getting Steamy. Krysten Ritter and Sam Heughan sat down on Actors on Actors and talked candidly about making public appearances and also about filming sex scenes. Getting busy is part of both Jessica Jones and Outlander but shooting those steamy interludes isn’t glamorous or even fun. [Variety]

More Romps. Speaking of Outlander, the series will see more adventures for Jamie and Claire Fraser in and outside of the bedroom because Starz has renewed the show. They’ve picked up seasons three and four of the time traveling drama, and the upcoming installments will follow the book series by Diana Gabaldon. [Nerdist]

Who is the Mad King? Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones saw Bran have a vision in which he glimpsed the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. As a fan of the books, it was a chilling scene to see play out. But what is the Mad King’s history? Michael has you covered in the latest History of Thrones.

Rearranging. Time for more Showtime schedule updates! They’ve pushed season six of Homeland to a January 2017 debut (it was initially supposed to drop in the fall), but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The network is apparently close to picking up seasons seven and eight. [Deadline]
