TV-Cap: Neil Gaiman to Write AMERICAN GODS TV Series, Secret Warriors Coming to AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., & More

Who needs coffee when there’s a huge amount of exciting TV news to dive into? Actually, I still need coffee. Like, always. So, grab your preferred method of caffeine delivery and sit tight because oh boy, things are happening. Keep reading to find out about the role of Secret Warriors in Season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., to see a new promo for Supergirl with origin story nods, to learn about Neil Gaiman penning episodes of American Gods, and much more.

An Extra Special Team. When it was finally revealed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Skye was actually Inhuman Daisy Johnson, it opened up so many possibilities. The Season 2 finale of the Marvel series wrapped with Skye talking about getting her own secret team comprised of members with extraordinary powers which points towards something obvious in the comics: Secret Warriors. And the series has confirmed via Instagram and Variety that yes, they’re going that route in Season 3 and will reveal more about their plans at Comic-Con. [Comic Book Resources]

The Knight Returns. The fairy tale land of Once Upon a Time encompasses many legends and worlds–including the one of King Arthur. We know the citizens of Storybrooke are preparing to hunt down Merlin and that Arthur and Guinevere are coming into the picture next season too, and that made us wonder if we would see the return of Lancelot. And guess what? We will! Sinqua Walls will be back as the knight. I hope it’s not only in flashbacks because as far as we know, Cora killed him, and I’d love to learn that didn’t happen. But also, death is anything but permanent in the ABC show. [Nerdist]

Mostly Dead? Skip this tidbit if you’re not caught up on Season 5 of Game of Thrones. Probably the biggest question after the Season 5 finale of Thrones revolves around Jon Snow: Is he actually dead? Everyone involved in the series, including actor Kit Harington, say he’s really dead and isn’t coming back–everyone but Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen). When asked by MTV about odds on Jon coming back, Clarke said, “If I had to bet, I would say it’s a 50/50 chance. There are some helpful people there, who could bring Jon back to life.” Helpful people like Melisandre, maybe? Hmm. It’s not anything close to confirmation of Jon’s continued existence, but it is the tiniest of somethings. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Hello, Sweetie. What would it be like if River Song met more versions of the Doctor? I think it has the potential to be rather spectacular, and it’s going to happen thanks to Big Finish. They’re going to be producing new Doctor Who audio dramas that bring Alex Kingston back to the role of River and put her in a story alongside the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann). Um, yes, please. Meow. We recently learned Tabitha Galavan, a.k.a. Tigress, would be clawing her way to the next season of Gotham and that James Frain had been cast as her villainous brother Theo. Now, TVLine’s learned Jessica Lucas (Gracepoint) will play Tabitha/Tigress. I can’t help but wonder if she’ll take the place of Season 1’s recurring baddie Fish Mooney. [TVLine]

In Another World. Huh. Comedy Central asked Amy Schumer to take the anchor’s chair on The Daily Show after Jon Stewart announced he was leaving. That could have been a beautiful thing. Schumer recently told The Daily Beast about the offer and said she was honored to be asked but said, “And then I thought, ‘Well, I could give everyone I love a job and we could all be together for five years.’ But picturing being in a building and knowing what I was going to do for five years–I love not knowing. And I’ve never done anything safe or to make money for that reason. So, you know, I said, ‘I can’t start now.'” I respect that. Maybe she’ll step in and guest host when Trevor Noah needs a day off though? Maybe? [Nerdist]

Get Scared. It’s the summer of Scream. The slasher film has become a television series on MTV, and if you want to see if the jump to the small screen is for you, you can watch the first eight minutes of the pilot. Scream will premiere on June 30 at 10:00pm. [Give Me My Remote]

The Phantom Zone. Superhero stories–whether they’re told on film or television–almost always explore origins, and it doesn’t look like Supergirl will be an exception. A new international trailer reveals a little about why Kara Zor-El was sent to Earth–she was supposed to protect Kal-El–and how she got trapped in the Phantom Zone. Talk about unfortunate wrong turns… [/Film]

One Thousand Times, Yes. Can you stand to hear more good news about Starz’s American Gods television series? I thought so. Co-showrunner Bryan Fuller appeared at the Saturn Awards on June 25 and told Collider that Neil Gaiman, author of American Gods, will be writing episodes (plural!) of the show. Best news or best? [Nerdist]

Time to Get Nervous. At 10 seconds, a new promo for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead is basically a long gif, but it’s a chilling one. The brief footage shows hints of a world where things are going wrong with multiple missing posters and a suspicious looking shambling figure. I’m concerned. PSA: Shambling figures rarely indicate good news. [Comic Book Resources]

It’s a Vs. We know Punisher is coming to Hell’s Kitchen in Season 2 of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil. Though he’s an anti-hero, Frank Castle is at least a hero. However, he might not be fighting alongside Daredevil. We’ve learned from a source that co-showrunner Marco Ramirez is calling the next season Daredevil vs. the Punisher. This could be interesting. Learn more on Nerdist News.

Another Round. Amazon has given their Golden Globe award-winning series Transparent a greenlight for Season 3. And also, they’ve made a deal with Transparent’s creator to develop other TV projects. Jill Soloway will continue to be Transparent’s showrunner but will exclusively develop television projects for Amazon Prime. [Variety]
