TV-Cap: Mulan Returns to ONCE UPON A TIME, PENNY DREADFUL Season 3 First Look, and More

The end of the week has arrived. We made it. And this weekend, we’ll be rewarded with the return of Mulan and Ruby on Once Upon a Time! Today’s TV-Cap has photos of the characters from the episode, a tease for next week’s surprising Arrow, a great How I Met Your Mother promo, a pic from season three of Penny Dreadful and more.

Adventure Awaits. ABC’s Once Upon a Time will bring two hours of fairy tale twists and turns this Sunday. Two hours! The latter hour of the two-parter will bring back two fan favorite characters: Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Ruby (Meghan Ory). They’ll be teaming up with Merida–apparently Merida and Mulan go way back. I haven’t seen anything besides these photos, but I’m sold on a spinoff. See more images at TVLine. [Images: ABC]

Not a Surprise. Arrow didn’t keep the fact that Ray Palmer was returning in the most recent episode under any hats. But knowing the big twist didn’t necessarily make it less exciting. Felicity was all about searching for Ray, and it caused some trouble between her and Oliver. Read Sydney’s recap of “Lost Souls.”

A Visit from the Past. Diggle has been looking for answers about what happened to his brother for years, and he’s in for a shock. His brother is alive and kicking, and under the influence of Damien Darhk. Yikes. The above teaser for next week’s Arrow, “Brotherhood,” lays it all out. [Comic Book Resources]

Look to the Skies. Star Wars Rebels gave us a Hera-centric episode this week, and while they were at it, they explored the origins of the B-wing. The episode was very much influenced by Rocketeer, and the music alone about made my heart burst. Read my review of “Wings of the Master” right this way.

Grodd and Dad Return. The upcoming episode of The Flash is titled “Gorilla Warfare,” and you can guess what that means. Grodd is coming back! Pictures from the episode make it look like he’s imprisoned Caitlin, but she doesn’t look terrified so… Besides Grodd, Henry Allen also makes his return to Central City. Check out more photos from the episode at TV Fanatic–there’s a spoilery but very interesting one. [Images: The CW]

A Helping Hand. Showtime’s Penny Dreadful doesn’t return with season three until 2016, but it’s not too early for them to tease what’s coming up with a photo. The first look from the season ahead shows Vanessa with Dr. Seward. The therapist is a new character next season and will be attempting to use an unconventional approach to treat Vanessa. Scoops Abound. Our very own Sydney visited the set of The Vampire Diaries, and besides stopping by sets like the Salvatore mansion, she also talked to the cast and got some dish regarding the story ahead. Read about everything Sydney learned here at Nerdist.

Babies Make It Legendary. Imagine How I Met Your Mother but with babies. Have the image in your head? Then you’re prepared for the above video. The promo is for the Romedy Now channel that’s apparently bringing the comedy to their line-up, and I think they’ve basically nailed marketing. Toddler Ted is so cute that he can’t be annoying.
