The shows we love never seem to go away forever. Sometimes a universe from one series is used in another one, sometimes the show picks up with the same characters many years later, and sometimes we get reboots. Just today I have news about a familiar face on Heroes Reborn and the return of Coach. I mean, if Coach can make a comeback, anything can right? I’m going to try to keep this in mind when my favorite shows are canceled. As mentioned, today’s TV-Cap has news on Coach and Heroes Reborn as well as the latest on a Gilmore Girls reunion, The Rock on Saturday Night Live, and much more.

Small Town Politics. The trailer for HBO’s three-part miniseries based on J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy is here, and it’s rife with drama. Small towns are a breeding ground for twists, turns, and surprising secrets. After a community leader dies, the residents of the town must fill the vacancy he left on a committee, and it’s not an easy task. The series looks like it will lead us through all kinds of turmoil. The Casual Vacancy premieres on April 29. [Nerdist]

But Will There Be a Versa? Hiro Nakamura was a key figure on Heroes, and he’ll be a part of Heroes Reborn. Masi Oka will reprise his role as the time jumper on the new series in a guest-starring arc. Oka says, “I’m excited to return to my Heroes roots. Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I’m hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV.” [Deadline]

No Retirement for Coach. Remember Coach? The series starring Craig T. Nelson aired from 1989 to 1997 on ABC. The sitcom focused on Hayden Fox coaching a fictional college football team, and it hit all the usual sitcom notes of heartwarming and funny. And it’s coming back! Nelson will reprise the role for a 13-episode run on NBC. Coach Fox will come out of retirement to serve as an assistant coach to his son. No other cast members have been announced at this time. The Rock on SNL. Dwayne Johnson hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend, and George Ezra appeared as the musical guest. Johnson took center stage in a bevy of of sketches about everything from Viagra to interrogations. My favorite of the bunch features The Rock as Bambi–as in the deer from the Disney animated film. Be Afraid. The name of AMC’s The Walking Dead spinoff, companion, whatever you want to call it has been revealed. Finally. Executive producer Robert Kirkman dropped the news on Twitter, and I have to say, it’s not quite what I expected. It’s called–insert drum roll sound effect here–Fear the Walking Dead. Well, OK. The series is set in Los Angeles and is supposed to premiere in late summer. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Team-Up. One of Arrow’s strongest points is its fight scenes. The stunts are done amazingly well. James Bamford does an impressive job with choreography, and his team of stunt performers as well as the actors make the battles appear realistic. Delena Danger. The next episode of The Vampire Diaries, “I Could Never Love Like That,” sees Elena reevaluating her life as a vampire. She learns about Jo’s pregnancy, and I can only imagine what that would mean to her since she can never have children. Does that mean there are troubled times ahead for Damon and Elena? Maybe. Bring On the Coffee. This June the ATX Television Festival will have a very special panel. Well, it’s special to anyone who adores the Gilmore Girls. The festival is hosting a reunion for the series (!) and more cast members just confirmed participation. I wish I could follow where they’re leading! The following cast members are scheduled to appear: Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, Jared Padalecki (Dean), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane), Liza Weil (Paris), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Yanic Truesdale (Michel), and John Cabrera (Brian). Oh my Stars Hollow. I’m excited they’re getting together. I will lose it if they announce any kind of future Gilmore Girls projects. [TVLine]
