TV-Cap: Marvel Confirms Ward’s New Identity, GAME OF THRONES Season 6 BTS, and More

Who else nerded out over seeing the Fortress of Solitude in last night’s Supergirl? I mean, there was even a Legion of Super Heroes Flight Ring for goodness’ sake. That was a rather excellent way to start the week. I don’t have the Fortress of Solitude in today’s TV-Cap, but I do have news about Ward’s villainous new identity on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a behind the scenes look at Game of Thrones season six, a promo for the Agent Carter season two finale, and more.

Grab a Coat. The return of Fox’s Gotham on Monday means Mr. Freeze and Hugo Strange are almost here. Well, there. The promo for the next episode, “A Dead Man Feels No Cold,” highlights the dangerous duo. [Comic Book Resources]

Detect This. CBS has cast the lead role in their pilot of Drew, a series loosely inspired by the Nancy Drew novels. Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest) will play Nancy. In this version, Nancy is a 30-something working as a detective for the NYPD. I’m intrigued by the idea of aging her up, but I hope they don’t go for the strictly procedural route. [Variety]

Skip over this next bit if you don’t want to know about Grant Ward’s new identity on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

That Figures. Grant Ward has been a constant thorn in the side of the good guys in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He seemingly can’t be stopped or killed, and now, he’s even more dangerous. S.H.I.E.L.D. producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen told us Ward has indeed become Hive. They also mentioned this Hive will be different from the one in the comics. Clever Girls. Netflix is super smart when it comes to marketing their original content. They figured out a way to use the Oscars to promote Orange Is the New Black by making a “For Your Incarceration” teaser. I nominate Red for the best everything. New episodes of the dramedy (do people still use that word?) will arrive on June 17. [Entertainment Weekly]

Timely Mission. I feel like next year’s television schedule has the potential to be full of stories involving time travel. It’s the current thing. NBC’s Time, an “action adventure drama” from Eric Kripke (Supernatural creator) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield creator), has cast its male lead for the pilot. Matt Lanter (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will play one of the time travelers in a trio tasked with hopping around the timeline to battle a dangerous enemy. [Deadline]

On the Other Side. Need your Westeros fix? HBO has released a behind-the-scenes video for season six of Game of Thrones that spends time with camera operators, who discuss the joys and challenges of the job. I love seeing how the Seven Kingdoms come to life. And as you can imagine, the video offers all sorts of peeks at the season ahead–even though you still have to wait until April 24 for the premiere. We break down several shots in the video here at Nerdist.

Belly of the Beast. The season two finale of Agent Carter airs Tuesday, March 1 on ABC, and the goal is to take down Whitney Frost. A clip shows Peggy and Sousa going into Whitney’s paper-covered lair to collect information. I’m a little concerned for their well-being because Whitney is terrifying. [We Got This Covered]

Saving the Four Lands? Maybe? MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles wraps up season one on Tuesday, March 1, and Wil, Eretria, and Amberle have some serious problems. And by serious, I mean they have to hustle to save the Four Lands from a massive demon army. No big. Catch a sneak peek of the drama ahead in an exclusive clip at Entertainment Weekly.

Hit Rewind. Ready to catch up on the pile of delightful television Monday delivered to our doorstep? Read our recaps of Supergirl (Fortress of Solitude!), Better Call Saul (Saul!), and Gotham (Mr. Freeze!). If you want to stretch back into the past, we also have new editions of The X-Files Declassified and Supercafffeinated Gilmore Girls recaps.

Are you into the idea of Ward as Hive? Let me know in the comments!
