TV-Cap: Maisie Williams on DOCTOR WHO, ARROW FLASH Spinoff Casts Hawkgirl, & More

It’s a happy day when shows you love collide in unexpected ways—like Game of Thrones and Doctor Who. The two series have shared a few actors and now one more will be crossing streams: Maisie Williams! Also known as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones. Bless. Read more about her guest starring role in today’s good ol’ news round-up and also: watch a teaser for Fear the Walking Dead, learn who’s playing Hawkgirl in the Arrow/Flash spinoff, and see some Daredevil cast posters.

A Challenge for the Doctor. Hold on to your TARDIS, Whovians, because Maisie Williams is coming to Series 9 of Doctor Who. The actress who plays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones will be appearing in a guest starring role of some kind. Like Steven Moffat or Williams are going to give that information away! But I wouldn’t want them to. Moffat did say that her character “is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways.” [Nerdist]

No Script for You! George R.R. Martin won’t be penning any scripts for Season 6 of Game of Thrones. Martin wrote on his blog that writing a single episode would cost him at least a month’s work on the next book in A Song of Ice and Fire, The Winds of Winter, and he can’t afford that. He didn’t contribute a script for Season 5 either. The decision fits in with other moves by Martin to cut out distractions and focus on finishing the next book. [Vulture]

It’s All Happening. I might be overreacting, but I think the untitled Arrow and The Flash superhero team-up series is going to be amazing. I was already excited about it, but now? They’ve gone and added Hawkgirl. Ciara Renee has been cast as Kendra Sunders and is being described as “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries.” She’s going to have wings and everything. We live in glorious times. [Nerdist]

By the Light of Hell’s Kitchen. We’re inching closer to the debut of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix on April 10 and that means we’ll probably be seeing more and more promo material. The latest blast includes a series of character posters set in the moody scene we saw in the recent motion poster. Turns out night in Hell’s Kitchen offers some rather flattering lighting. See the rest of the posters at CBR.

Brain Dealer. As you might have guessed, we haven’t seen the last of Blaine on iZombie. He knows Liv has access to fresh brains and he isn’t likely to forget it. In the next episode, “The Exterminator,” Blaine pays another visit to the morgue to call Liv out for standing him up. Watch the clip at TVLine.

It’s Official. Jon Stewart’s replacement on The Daily Show has been announced and as rumored, it’s Trevor Noah. He’s been a senior international correspondent on the show since December and is stepping in as host on a yet to be announced date. Stewart teased he’s loved working with Noah so much that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!” [The Hollywood Reporter]

About That Flu Shot. The title for The Walking Dead spinoff was announced at the end of last week–Fear the Walking Dead–and AMC has released a 16-second teaser. It looks like it’s taking us back in time to the beginning of the zombie outbreak when people think it’s just a strange virus. Yeah… no. [Nerdist]

NBC’s Next Musical Turn. NBC’s live musical television event has become tradition, and they’ve announced what show they’ll be doing next. They previously tackled The Sound of Music and Peter Pan and now they’re going down the yellow brick road with The Wiz. Airing on December 3, The Wiz will be co-produced by Cirque du Soleil and then return to Broadway. Because of course. [Variety]

What do you think about the teaser for Fear The Walking Dead? Let us know in the comments.
