TV-Cap: Lynda Carter Is Coming to SUPERGIRL

Breaking: Everyone has been cast in everything! That’s the theme of today’s TV-Cap. It makes sense given that many shows will be back in the filming swing of things within a month or so. Anyway! I have casting updates for Arrow, Supergirl, Lucifer, and more, and you’ll find a sneak peek of the Killjoys season two premiere, a trailer for The Strain… let’s get to it!

Mrs. President. In news that is as perfect as can be, Lynda Carter is joining Supergirl’s second season to play the President of the United States. Yep! She’ll take on the leadership role for a multi-episode arc that will kick off with the third episode of next season. Would it be too much if Carter’s character kept the Lasso of Truth in her office? Finding Trouble. Killjoys will be back on Syfy with season two on July 1, but if you simply cannot wait, you can get a peek at the first four minutes thanks to Variety. The clip shows the team in the sort of risky situation you’ve come to expect from Dutch, Johnny, and D’avin. [Variety]

A Role for You, and You, and… Time to knock out some comic book television casting goodness. Artemis is coming to season five of Arrow. She’ll be played by Madison McLaughlin, and, as you likely remember, McLaughlin plays Evelyn Sharp—the teen who tried to impersonate Black Canary in season four. Evelyn will appear next season in multiple episodes and take up the new mantle. Over on Gotham, Vicki Vale’s aunt is coming to season three; Jamie Chung will play reporter Valerie Vale. Then on Lucifer, the Devil’s mother is coming to town in the second season. She’ll be played by none other than Tricia Helfer. [Variety, TVLine, Comic Book Resources]

But Will There Be Dragons? The Game of Thrones fandom is strong and could definitely shoulder an entire convention. That will happen next summer, from June 30 – July 2, 2017, in Nashville, Tennessee. Watchers on the Wall is working with Mischief Management to put on a convention all about Westeros with special guests, panels, autographs—the whole con shebang. Get updates on the Con of Thrones website. [A.V. Club]

Hop Dimensions. Want to be a little more like Rick of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty? Then build a replica of his portal gun. The folks at AWE me’s Prop Shop have recreated the dimension-hopping tool, and you can follow their lead to make one of your very own. [Nerdist]

The Future Is Bright. Archer can continue to be the vainest spy in the history of ever for a bit longer because FX has renewed the show for seasons eight, nine, and 10; each season will consist of eight episodes. That’s three seasons at once! That calls for a martini… even if it’s not 5:00p.m. somewhere. [Deadline]

Let It Go, LEGO. Has the world had enough Frozen? I think the answer to that will forever be, “Not so much.” A sequel to the animated film is still coming, but we’ll get to hang out with Elsa, Anna, and company in a new series of animated LEGO shorts called Frozen Northern Lights. The four animated shorts will debut in November on the Disney Channel; they’ll feature the original voice cast. [Slashfilm]

Utter Chaos. The epidemic in FX’s The Strain is turning the world upside down. A trailer released for season three shows all kinds of disasters. You’ll have to wait until August 28 to see how horrible it truly gets. [IGN]

All the Els. Syfy’s Krypton pilot is taking shape and that means casting breakdowns. The lead characters prominently feature the Houses of El and Zod and a whole lot of 20-somethings. Get the complete rundown at TVLine.

What do you think about all the casting updates? Are you on board with LEGO Frozen stories? Sound off in the comments.
