TV-Cap: Kit Harington’s Hair, HEROES REBORN Motion Posters, & More

Mondays after holiday weekends are always so… well, Monday-like. It’s not helped by the fact that Comic-Con is mere days away, and many of us are teetering on the edge of excitement and exhaustion. But we’ll get through, and it will be great! To help with said greatness, let’s catch up on the TV news that dropped over the weekend. Keep scrolling to see motion posters introducing new characters for Heroes Reborn, to discuss what Kit Harington’s hair means (it’s full of secrets!), and to watch Conan celebrate Magic Mike XXL.

Fresh Faces. NBC’s event series Heroes Reborn will feature actors and characters we know from the original Heroes, but there will be more new faces. Three of these characters were revealed in motion posters at Comic Book Resources: “Erica (Rya Kihlstedt), the head of a high successful tech conglomerate, Emily (Gatlin Green), the girl of previously introduced character Tommy’s dreams, and Quentin (Henry Zebrowski), a conspiracy theorist on the hunt for Noah Bennet in order to expose the truth of the Odessa tragedy.” [Comic Book Resources]

Hairbrained Theories. Go and skip this tidbit if you haven’t finished Season 5 of Game of Thrones because spoilers are ahead. The length of Kit Harington’s hair has made fans wonder about the fate of the character because as long as Harington plays Jon Snow, he’s contractually obligated to keep his hair long. Harington sported a shorter style earlier this year, but he was spotted at Wimbledon last Thursday and his hair was appropriate Snow length again. This of course has people speculating that Snow is indeed still alive following the stabbing incident at the end of Season 5. But, maybe he’s just decided he likes his hair long? Being Supergirl. You might have to wait until Comic-Con to see the Supergirl pilot, but you can learn more about Melissa Benoist and her take on the character now. Entertainment Weekly profiled Benoist for their Comic-Con issue and shared the interview online. Benoist talks about auditioning for the role, putting on the Supergirl costume for the first time, and playing one of the few female superheroes on TV. Read the complete interview at Entertainment Weekly.

Girls Night Out and Conan. Magic Mike XXL premiered over the weekend, and Conan O’Brien enjoyed the entire Magic Mike experience with his assistant and her friends. He crashed their girls’ night out for the sake of entertainment on Conan, and it’s actually pretty hilarious. “I might do a woo” is my favorite line. [Nerdist]

Ice Creams and Penguins. By now, you’ve probably familiarized yourself with Comic-Con’s line up of television panels. But networks don’t only promote their shows in rooms in the convention center, they head to the ground. Fox has announced their outdoor activities to promote shows such as Scream Queens and Gotham. They have a Scream Drop ride at the Petco Interactive Zone, free ice cream for Scream Queens, wandering Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin lookalikes, and more. Get all the details at Give Me My Remote.

Goodbye, East Coast. Sharks are flying in to destroy the East coast, and we know that because Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) can smell the oncoming storm. Yep. A new trailer for Sharknado 3 shows that we’re basically all screwed. You’ll be able to sink your teeth into the next Sharknado flick on July 22. [Vulture]

Mr. Robot BTS. Only two episodes of the USA original series Mr. Robot have aired, but it’s shaping up to be the best new series of the summer. The gripping techno-drama centers on Elliot (Rami Malek) and a band of hackers led by Mr. Robot (Christian Slater). Our own Joseph McCabe spoke with Malek, Slater, and series creator Sam Esmail about the hacker genre, the commentary on society and politics, and more-you can read everything they had to say right here at Nerdist.

Eating Contracts. The hope of Hannibal continuing somewhere else for Season 4 is still alive, but it’s not as shiny as it once was. Deadline reports that contracts for Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) and Hugh Dancy (Will) expired last week. That means they’re free to chase and accept new gigs–gigs that could keep them busy and not able to film Season 4. [A.V. Club]

Game of Thrones Intro Made With Only Board Games from Bill Bergen on Vimeo.

Board Game Westeros. The way the Game of Thrones opening credits feature the various locations coming together always makes me think of LEGO bricks. And now, because of Bill Bergen and Michael Cisneros, I’ll think of board game pieces and everyday objects. They re-created the title sequence for a College Humor bit, and I’m sort of mesmerized by it. [Nerdist]

Do you think the length of Harington’s hair is an indication about the status of Jon Snow? Sound off in the comments.
