TV-Cap: GOTHAM’s Penguin Family Portrait, Final DAREDEVIL Season Two Trailer, and More

The middle of the week is here, and that means we’re only two days away from the premiere of season two of Daredevil. The Man Without Fear has a ridiculous number of problems in Hell’s Kitchen this season, and they’re teased in the final trailer. You can see that trailer in today’s TV-Cap, along with some information about casting additions to Once Upon a Time, a Penguin family photo from Gotham, and behind-the-scenes pics from Kevin Smith’s gig directing The Flash.

Fancy Family. A picture released by Fox showing off Oswald Cobblepot’s entire family makes them look like a rather elegant group… it’s not an awkward portrait at all. Penguin’s father, Elijah Van Dahl, will be appearing in Gotham on March 21 and will be played by Paul Reubens (yes, he played Penguin’s dad in Batman Returns, too). [TV Insider, Image: Fox]

More Jimmy McGill. Becoming Saul Goodman was a slow, thoughtful process for Jimmy McGill, and Bob Odenkirk is going to get a little more time to explore it because AMC has renewed Better Call Saul. They’ve given the green light to a 10-episode third season with Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould returning as showrunners.

On Set. What do you do when you’re directing an episode of a series you’re also a fan of? You geek out, obviously. Kevin Smith is currently working on his episode of The Flash, and he snapped some photos of himself hanging with Zoom and trying on Jay Garrick’s helmet. It could be clues about what his episode, penned by Zack Stenz, is about… or it could be Smith playing fanboy. Most likely, it’s a bit of both. [Comic Book Resources, Images: Kevin Smith]

Triple B. The premiere of the new Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network isn’t quite here yet, but if you’re itching to see Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup back in action, you don’t have to wait. You can download the episode for free from iTunes right meow. [Nerdist]

Yes, Please. CBS’ pilot for The Great Indoors already had Joel McHale on board, and now they’ve added Stephen Fry to the cast. Fry and McHale co-starring in a multi-camera comedy about an adventure reporter who has to learn about running a digital magazine with millennials? I’m sold. Fry will play Antonio, McHale’s character’s (who is also named Joel) boss. [Deadline]

Cult Life. From the outside, the good and bad (mostly bad) of cults looks cut and dry. But is it that simple? The topic will be explored in Hulu’s upcoming original series The Path. They’ve released key art for the series, which premieres on March 30. They have a few names you might recognize on board: Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, and Hugh Dancy. They’re pretty okay actors, I guess. [Image: Hulu]

Michonne Unplugged. Telltale Games has created a three-part miniseries focused on The Walking Dead’s Michonne. The first installment dropped in February, and the second episode, called “Give No Shelter,” is just around the corner. It will arrive on March 29 and follow Michonne, Pete, and Sam’s escape from Monroe. [Nerdist]

Maybe Brothers? Once Upon a Time has cast two new faces in recurring roles: Sam Witwer and Hank Harris. Witwer will play Jacob, the villainous/terrible warden of an asylum, and Harris will play Nathaniel, a patient at said asylum. They match the description of casting Once was performing for two brothers; if that’s true, which brothers from Disney or fairy tales do you think they are? It’s expected the characters will appear towards the end of the current season. [TVLine]

War Is Here. Hell’s Kitchen is a disaster in season two of Daredevil. Taking care of Wilson Fisk didn’t clean up the streets like Daredevil thought it would. Instead, others are fighting for the scraps Fisk left behind. And on top of that, there’s Punisher, Elektra, and the Hand to deal with. The second season arrives on March 18. [Nerdist]

Last Night. Tuesday night saw the return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Ward playing host to Hive. Read Joseph’s recap of “The Inside Man.” If you want to go back further in time to enjoy some Gilmore Girls talk, read my latest supercaffeinated recap for the series.

Did you watch the first episode of the new Powerpuff Girls? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.
