TV-Cap: GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Key Art and Clips Released, PENNY DREADFUL Season 2 Posters, & More

Mondays aren’t known for being agreeable but any day that has new Game of Thrones clips and images has to be okay, right? Right. You’re in luck because HBO has released both key art and two brief clips for Season 5, and it’s enough to make me want to hit the fast forward button to get the April premiere faster. Aside from Game of Thrones, read on and see posters from Penny Dreadful Season 2, learn about a possible tour for Empire, watch a promo for Arrow, and more.

The Lion and the Dragon. HBO has released the key art for Game of Thrones Season 5, and it features Tyrion Lannister encountering a dragon–specifically Drogon. In the Season 5 trailer, Varys hinted that Tyrion should help Daenerys Targaryen take the Iron Throne, so this could be a symbolic meeting of the Lannisters and the Targaryen (especially since this Drogon art appears to be from Season 4) or he could stumble upon Drogon. See the Season 5 poster here at Nerdist, and then take a moment to watch the clips above because they’re the first ones released for Season 5. They feature Brienne of Tarth talking to Podrick and a scene between Jon Snow and Mance Rayder. Is it April 12th yet?

Who You Gonna Call? Danny Pudi is headed back to NBC to star in the comedy pilot Strange Calls. Pudi will star as Toby, a cop who gets transferred to a seemingly boring small town. Even though the town doesn’t see much activity when it comes to crime, it’s a hotbed for paranormal happenings. And now the bad news: If Strange Calls gets picked up for a full season, it takes priority over Community. [TVLine]

On the Road? Fox’s Empire continues to rake in high ratings every week and continually gain new viewers. Given that it’s been so successful, an Empire music tour is a possibility. Fox did that with Glee and took the show and its stars on tour for two summers, and we could see a repeat. Fox Television Group’s co-chair and co-CEO Dana Walden told Entertainment Weekly, “…we are certainly looking down the line. There’s no reason not to think of having all sorts of ancillary opportunities with this show. We’re certainly thinking about idea of doing a live concert series.” Would you purchase tickets to see an Empire concert? [Entertainment Weekly]

Reinvention. Penny Dreadful returns with its second season on May 3rd. Madame Kali is lined up to be the primary villain, and it looks like there could be a bride for Dr. Frankenstein’s Creature. Whatever happens, it’s likely to be chilling. See posters of Dr. Frankenstein and his creature at IGN and posters of Sir Malcolm and Sembene at Hitfix.

Blasts From the Past. Supergirl is taking a page from The Flash handbook and casting actors who have previously played Supergirl and Superman. Helen Slater and Dean Cain will guest star in the pilot of the series, but we don’t know anything about their roles yet. It makes me wonder if they’ll add any other faces from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. [Nerdist]

The Lord of Hell. Fox has picked up the pilot for the hour-long procedural Lucifer. The show is based on a comic of the same name (it’s a spin-off from Sandman), and Tom Ellis (Rush) has been cast in the lead role. The synopsis: “Lucifer, the Lord of Hell, bored and unhappy, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.” [/Film]

The Offer. When we last saw Oliver Queen, he received a very interesting offer from Ra’s al Ghul. Emphasis on the word very. Ra’s wants Oliver to take his place and become the next Ra’s al Ghul, and while it doesn’t seem like Oliver would say yes, he could potentially do good in the role by disbanding the League of Assassins. The above clip shows that he’s at least considering the offer. Arrow will return on March 18th. [CBR]

Ferguson Is King. Craig Ferguson’s next role won’t be in the host chair, it will be as the lead of a comedy. He’s been cast as the star of an ABC comedy pilot titled The King of 7B. Ferguson will play Prentiss. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prentiss is “an agoraphobic recluse who ventures outside for the first time in 11 years when he spies what could be his soul mate moving into the building across the street.” I’m already hoping this gets ordered to full series.

What do you think the Game of Thrones poster means? Does Tyrion actually meet Drogon or is it just symbolic? Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
