TV-Cap: GAME OF THRONES Aftershow, DOCTOR WHO Spinoff Casting, and More

This is going to be the year of the aftershow. Orphan Black recently added one, and Game of Thrones is joining the mix. Read today’s TV-Cap to learn more about the most happening official aftershow in Westeros, to find out who’s been bumped to a series regular in Arrow, to learn who’s been cast in the Doctor Who spinoff Class, and more.

Discuss All the Things! HBO has announced an aftershow worthy of the Iron Throne. After the Thrones will be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan. Episodes will air on HBO and be available on Mondays after new episodes of Game of Thrones on HBO’s various streaming platforms. I’m guessing they’ll have a few things to discuss over the course of season six (which premieres April 24!). [Nerdist]

Hank and Alex Are Back. The Supergirl season one finale, “Better Angels,” will air on April 18. The synopsis says she’s forced to fight an unexpected enemy. But more importantly, look at that adorable picture of Kara and Hank! Awww! See more photos from the episode at TVLine. [Images: CBS]

Mysteries Solved? Why have a one-hour finale when you can have a two-hour one? A handful of series are taking that route this television season, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of them. Their two-hour season three finale will air on May 17. [ComicBook.com]

This Is Promising. BBC One is adapting Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy for television—and thank goodness they are, because The Golden Compass film didn’t quite capture the magic. The network has found a scribe to pen the adaptation: Jack Thorne. The writer just received a pile of BAFTA TV nominations for his work on The Last Panthers, This Is England ’90, and Don’t Take My Baby, so I think the story is in good hands. [Deadline]

More Curtis. Yes! Echo Kellum, a.k.a. Curtis Holt, has been bumped to series regular status for season five of Arrow. The tech genius is in on all of Team Arrow’s secrets, and I wouldn’t be upset if he stepped in and took Felicity’s place on the team. Plus, there’s all the Mr. Terrific potential! Get Enrolled. I sort of keep forgetting we’re getting a Doctor Who spinoff. But hey, Class is happening and BBC has released more information about the premise of the series. We already knew it would take place in Coal Hill School, but it seems like the school will be a safe house of sorts for at least one student placed there by the Doctor. Newcomers Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, and Vivian Oparah have been cast in the show. Read more at Nerdist.

Another Name. We haven’t seen the last of doppelgangers on The Flash. Katie Cassidy will make an appearance on the series as the Earth-2 Laurel Lance. There, she’ll be Black Siren instead of Black Canary. She’ll be in the penultimate episode of season two. [TVLine, Design & Trend, Image: Canadagraphs]

How Slow Is Too Slow? Better Call Saul is moving at a calculated pace this season. It’s not necessarily bad, but it means not much happens sometimes. Michael reviewed last night’s episode, “Fifi,” and thought it was a slow step. Read his thoughts.

Will you be tuning into the Game of Thrones aftershow? Are you looking forward to the adaptation of His Dark Materials? Sound off in the comments.
