TV-Cap: First Trailer for THE MUPPETS, Details on Season 2 of AGENT CARTER, & More

With all the news coming down the pipeline about pilot pick-ups, premieres, and renewals, it’s easy to forget the curtains are closing on an influential television series: Mad Men. It’s been a fascinating, if not always cheerful, ride through the ’60s and ’70s with Don Draper and company. Continue reading to learn how you can say farewell to Mad Men with a marathon, see the first trailer for the brand new The Muppets, get some insight into tonight’s Supernatural, and more.

Kermit on the 405. As you’ve probably heard by now, ABC is bringing The Muppets to primetime and it’s getting edgier. This is a documentary style, more adult take on the beloved characters that features Kermit stuck in Los Angeles traffic and Fozzie Bear in a relationship. The first trailer cracked me up. The Muppets will air on Tuesdays this fall.

Bleak Binging Ahead. The series finale of Mad Men is right around the corner — this Sunday (May 17), in fact. There, there. We know life won’t be the same without Don Draper’s antics. You can slow down time until the end by starting a complete series marathon tonight at 6:00pm on AMC. It will wrap with last week’s episode on Sunday just before the finale. And another noteworthy tidbit: AMC will suspend regular programming on its sister networks during the Mad Men finale. [A.V. Club]

Going West. Remember how Agent Carter is returning for Season 2? Of course you do because it’s some of the best news ever. ABC released some details about the upcoming season during Upfronts this week. Here are the highlights: Agent Carter will air during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s hiatus again and Peggy Carter is leaving New York for Los Angeles. That could mean a new supporting cast. But, they have to bring Jarvis along, right? Right? And in related news, ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee said the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff idea isn’t entirely dead. It sounds like they’re leaving Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter in place on S.H.I.E.L.D. though. [Nerdist and Variety]

Dean Loses It. Last week’s Supernatural was not my favorite. A beloved character died and didn’t need to, and as a result of that death, Dean is more angry than usual. He blames Sam for what happened. All that emotion combined with the Mark of Cain isn’t a good thing, and tonight’s episode, “The Prisoner,” will explore the consequences. Executive producer Jeremy Carver teases the road ahead in the above video.

More Black Mirror. If you’re itching for more of Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror, well, you might have to keep waiting. The series is coming back somewhere, sometime. Vague enough for you? The current word is Brooker is thinking about creating new installments just for Netflix. Given all the ground Netflix is breaking these days, it’s not surprising to me that the option is on the table. [Nerdist]

A Promotion for the Doctor. One of the best parts of Gotham will potentially be around more in Season 2. Morena Baccarin will be back as Dr. Leslie Thompkins and has been upgraded to a series regular. [ComicsAlliance]

Ra's al Ghul

Looking Villainous. The current seasons of Arrow and The Flash are almost over; Arrow’s finale airs tonight, and The Flash wraps next week. The CW has been releasing posters from the “Superhero Fight Club” promo leading into these finales, and they’ve unveiled the last four featuring Ra’s al Ghul, Captain Cold, Firestorm, and Heat Wave. These designs just ooze comic book fun. See them all at Comic Book Resources.

All the Trailers. Upfront presentations mean a slew of trailers, and if you haven’t watched the ones for Fox’s 2015-2016 lineup, now is a fine time to do so. There’s a comedy with none other than John Stamos, the Minority Report series, a modern Frankenstein tale, and more. You can take in all the trailers here at Nerdist. Which one looks most appealing to you?

Beckett’s Back. Take a deep breath, Castle fans. After some lengthy negotiations, Stana Katic has signed on to return for Season 8. And according to Paul Lee, the next season of Castle won’t be the final one either. [Variety]

New Theme Song Time. Daredevil had a lot of instances of two things: fighting and drinking. Matt Murdock takes a beating time and time again, but he keeps getting back up. It’s impressive and actually, the fact that Murdock isn’t an all-powerful, invincible brawler is one of my favorite parts of the series. Anyway! YouTuber funkyjunkie has cut Daredevil scenes to Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping” and it’s like it was meant to be. [Uproxx]
